Any chance of doing a neck through Californian variant?

I once worked for a Hamer dealer back in the late 80's- early 90's and got a couple chances to fondle Neal Zaza's old white "Spiderman" neck through Californian. Always loved that guitar!!

You'd have to contact Mike directly about that, and the Cali you were talking about was definitely a set neck, not a neck through.

Know the production Californian was a set neck but thought both the Hamer rep at that time in Mike Amos and Neil himself told me that particular guitar was a neck through?? However with Neil if it was it may well have been a one off.
Set neck is fine by me though.

Nope. Neil's was (well, still is, but he doesn't own it anymore, IIRC) a set neck with a blended heel. It's owned by a member here.

Looks like a cool book.

Didn't know Mr. Zaza was a Hamer player in fact. But, from his records, thought he was. True. Love his melodic sense. Really thought I heard a Hamer on some of his playing. This is sort of curious. Can I really hear a Hamer guitar? Seems unlikely, but possible. I'm a Hamer SC player, and I don't sound like anyone (but mostly that is based on my own technical limitations). I very much sound like me. And anyone who has played with me, or tried to "cover" me will agree. Maybe I sound like Hamer (keeping in mind, I sound nothing like ZMB on his Hamer SC Seymour Duncan demos - 'cause he can play).

PS. Anyone owning Zaza Hamer products, and wishing to turn them into cash should pm me.

That there Spider Man Cali would set more than just my Spidey senses a-tingling. Feature-wise, it looks to be almost everything I would (and did ) order for my custom Cali.

It looks as though the neck p'up angle is ever-so-slightly more in line with the end of the fretboard compared to mine? I am not hung up on that but I've heard numerous mentions of that aesthetic so whenever I see another 2H Cali, I look for that angle.

I just stumbled on a Zaza cassette last night in a box of Hamer parts (pickguards, backplates, etc.). For some reason, it came from Hamer. I'll have to look at it tonight.

Pretty sure it looks a lot like every other cassette.;) But if you decide to give it a listen, I'd like to hear your opinion of it. Maybe post it some how?

It's still shrink-wrapped from NAMM.

I'm gonna guess that it's his Sing album (the one with the goofy cover pic of him shirtless kneeling next to a Daytona).

I found that one in my wife's CD stash when we were moving, and discovered a photo of him with a Watson. I gave him a lot of shit for selling it!!

his stuff is up on Spotify. Also a lot on YouTube. My son still asks me to learn how to play this song (and to teach him how):

That Spidey Guitar is one I regret not buying when I had the chance.

Cool axe and great graphic.

Zaza likes his Spider Man, that much is certain. Looks like he's a Carvin player now. Pity.

When those guys hit hard times they sell off the custom Hamers and take what people pay them to play.

Absolutely. A lot of lesser known names sell off all their existing guitars when they switch endorsements.

Went from Hamer to Peavey to EBMM to Cort to Carvin. I haven't played one of his new signature models, but the CT624s I played felt pretty darn nice!

His recording studio still has a quiver of axes hanging around, but most of them are EBMM. Didn't expect to see an Albert Lee model there!

Hard to imagine ever giving up my custom orders but then, I don't make my living from my guitar playing. Good thing, too; I'd have starved to death a LONG time ago.

I, for one, am glad that Spidey's blade switch is safely out of your reach. ;)
