KeyOfZ Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 In the middle of a conference and just took a peek....cant wait to get to a pair of headphones for this.....thanks Greg. I LOVE EVH's live tone (although most of it comes from his fingers I think)
Submariner85 Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 I just watched the first song so far but definitely gonna watch the rest now. Just wanted to say that was a freakin kick ass awesome rendition of There's Only One Way to Rock. Wow, indeed.Thanks.
cmatthes Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 CraP! Can somebody put that on a disc for me?!?!?!I saw them in '86, '89 and '92 and it WAS always great show. As much of a DLR VH fan that I am, Sammy was (and IS) an unbelievable frontman.Shame that those VH boys have A-holed themselves into irrelevancy...
hamerhead Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 I just watched all of it and that is some of the best live VH I've ever seen. Eddie is/was the master of controlled disaster. 'Falling down the stairs and landing on your feet'...indeed.
kizanski Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 CraP! Can somebody put that on a disc for me?!?!?! Gotcha covered, Matthes.
ZR Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 I took my 13 year old daughter (my little rocker!) out to dinner last night. She was telling me how Eddie and Valerie were getting divorced. I told her of his cancer, drinking etc. We talked about Sammy/DLR etc. I come home and Greg posts this cool concert. I showed her his solo and a few things and told her that was mainly what I wanted to show her (thinking that was about all she could handle of her old mans stuff) but she insisted on watching more! So, we watched over half of it together! I told her how ccol it was to have a great daughter like that who could appreciate new stuff, old stuff, whatever. I told her that good music is timeless. That you don't listen to a Classical piece and say, " Well, it was pretty good, for some old song ". It's either good music or it isn't as long as it speaks to the person listening.
Jones Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 Sammy RAWKED those banana yellow spandex trousers!
MCChris Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 I just watched all of it and that is some of the best live VH I've ever seen. Eddie is/was the master of controlled disaster. 'Falling down the stairs and landing on your feet'...indeed. Yeah, way better than that God-awful "Live Without a Net" concert.
MCChris Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 Yeah, way better than that God-awful "Live Without a Net" concert. Let me take that back. Just sat through the "When It's Love," "Eagles Fly," "I Can't Drive 55" trifecta. Yecch.
kizanski Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 I can't stand Hammy Sagar. He sucked all of the "rock" out of that band.He was a rocksucker!
RJoseph133 Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 He was a rocksucker! :angry:Hahahahahahahahaha! THAT's the best one I've heard in a while...but if that's Sammy's classification, how does Gary Cherone fit?
MCChris Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 He was a rocksucker! :angry:Hahahahahahahahaha! THAT's the best one I've heard in a while...but if that's Sammy's classification, how does Gary Cherone fit? Well, they did dust off "Unchained" when Gary was in the band, and by rule they could no longer do any Sammy solo material in concert, so ....
RJoseph133 Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 Well, they did dust off "Unchained" when Gary was in the band, and by rule they could no longer do any Sammy solo material in concert, so .... Does that make him a Dave-era rocksucker? Cherone would have probably found Dave a little more attractive...um, I mean appealing than Sam.
BCR Greg Posted December 8, 2005 Author Posted December 8, 2005 Gary was fantastic in Extreme, but TOTALLY wrong for VH. Bless him, he tried his best.
MCChris Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 Here's one with Eddie alongside another reputed cheeseball, G.E. Smith:http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=13...82649&q=van+snl
cmatthes Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 Watch out what you say about that cheeseball! He may be judging you and the Playboy band next year at the RnR Hall of Fame!
RJoseph133 Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 Watching these clips and thinking about what Ed looks like/does today is just sad. What a pathetic waste.
Submariner85 Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 There's a problem with the first song. Sammy says "my Les Paul in your face" but he is playing what looks like a Kramer? Thought it was a Charvel/Jackson but the headstock looks Kramer.
