it's me HHB Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Well the 02 Monaco has a Gibson abr1 bridge and I was thinking about a stock replacement, what model am I looking for?
atquinn Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 I'd put on a Tonepros, although they weren't stock then.-Austin
RobB Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Well the 02 Monaco has a Gibson abr1 bridge and I was thinking about a stock replacement, what model am I looking for?I thought the ABR-1 bridge was the vintage-style with the screw-post legs, where the thumbwheels adjust up/down? Not like the Nashville/Schaller with the post inserts that adjust into the body?
formula73 Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 If it's really an ABR-1, I'd recommend Faber Tone Lock stuff. Beyond that, get a rod of threaded stainless 5/16"x24 and screw them in as deep as they'll go, then cut them off flush with the top of the bridge. I'm a firm believer in as much bridge mass as you can get-to a point.
it's me HHB Posted April 11, 2015 Author Posted April 11, 2015 Its says Gibson ABR1 on the bottom. Vintage w that fuckin retainig wire
it's me HHB Posted April 11, 2015 Author Posted April 11, 2015 It has the inserts into the body, looks like the abr was added on top of the insert posts. Its really snug fit almost not fitting. Just wonder if they vintage bridge makes any difference and mainly hating that buzxing retaining wire. I dropped some clear nail polish on it to kill the vibrations
Disturber Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Hamer original should be Nashville (right? I always mix up which is which..). Don't know what brand though. The stop tail on my Korina Hamer says Gotoh I think. But I remember that its not the same brand as the bridge. The bridge on my Monaco III is an ABR from Tonepros, that fits the original Hamer studs. It looks really nice as it's slimmer, so it has that vintage look. Does it sound different than the original bridge on my Super Pro...? I seriously doubt it. Both sound supreme though.I'd go for a Tonepros if I was you. Or bump this thread until someone wise posts what brand Hamer really used. Then go for the original brand. Would probably be the cheapest way to go too.
it's me HHB Posted April 11, 2015 Author Posted April 11, 2015 Yeah original brand please. Im not sure I even need ir want this but imo the abr is a might rickety
Biz Prof Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Many prefer TonePros, but if you are really wanting a genuine "tunamatic", you might try this tried-and-true brand:
G Man Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 The original was a Schaller Nashville style bridge.
Feynman Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I know you said stock, but I will at least mention the bridge I put on the NAMM Monaco during its chrome conversion. TonePros TP6R-C : Unlike a lot of roller bridges, there is no slop or rattle. It's low profile and worked really well.

hamer_sunburst Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I think the stock bridge on my Monaco Elite is a Schaller.

Disturber Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I just realised my damn T62 has roller bridges. Now I gotta grow man tits.
analogsystem Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 The Gotoh aluminum tune-o-matic and lightweight tailpiece is pretty killer and not very expensive. They probably make it in both vintage and Nashville sizes. I think my Studio still has the original bridge but I recently put on the Gotoh lightweight tailpiece and it really added some nice "liveliness" to the guitar. It certainly has a "tone" compared to chrome / zince parts, which may or may not be an improvment for your instrument but I really dig it. It feels very "alive" when played unplugged, compared to the old tailpiece (which was seriously gouged from years of top wrapping).
