Daytona bridge

Question

Does anyone know a direct replacement for or have an original bridge for a USA Daytona ?

I just purchase one and noticed the bridge is not original. In addition to the extreme routing done on this guitar, bridge seems a little off any info appreciated

Thanks

Nick

That was yours on the Hamer Facebook page? Holy mega-route for weight-relief, Batman. Does it still play and sound ok?

Wilkinson VSVG Trem, I believe.

I have a spare one at home. It was PIF'd to me so I'll do the same for you. Just PM me your address and I'll get it in the mail to you. Probably won't get into my storage space until the weekend so it won't ship until next week. You'll also have to track down a bar for it because I don't have that. B)

have not gotten a replacement bridge yet. Not sure if I should just get replacement body and do a home build frankenstein, neck is perfect any suggestions or advice welcome

sound just seems dull and not sure if it is because the route is all the way though to the tremolo springs.

still trying to figure out how to post pictures

You had too much code in there. Just right click on the bottom option (4th one down) to the right of your Photobucket picture - the one that will allow you to post images. Copy, then just paste here.

I thought Bloozguy had a PIF bridge coming your way?

Yes. Haven't got the new bridge yet but wondering if that will help with sound. Thinking I might just block the tremolo so it is more like a fixed bridge

What kind of dumbass does something like that?!? Everyone knows the tool of choice for weight relief is a dull chisel/screwdriver.

F***ing rookies.

He does...but the stainless screws I wanted to get showed up at my office on a day I was not in and got stashed away without me knowing they had arrived. All is well and together now and shipping out tomorrow!

I have leftover stainless hardware that I plan to put together as "kits" for those who have Daytonas, Mirages, etc. with the VSV trem and want something on there that won't rust. I also got knurled plastic knobs and screws to make the intonation adjustment knobs that always seem to get lost.

So you're the one that did this to my Daytona?

S'okay: I paid $250 for her with the OHSC (which is in sadder shape) and she's still my favorite guitar.

Nope - that guy cheated by using a dull drill first.

Have they outlawed flogging?

mine is HEAVY, maybe I should consider the weight relieved mod

:wub::wub: :wub:

it still weighs more than my t-51

Trems are heavy. I see also that Wilkinson still makes that particular trem. Is it really that horrible?

Posted

I don't use trems very much, so I'm also pretty much oblivious. It looks like a good design for a 6 screw trem. Though once you play on a G&L trem, it's hard to go back. an actual useful trem that has enough of a center point that you can bend a bit. With a floyd I look at the other strings and they go out of tune.

The newer (Gotoh) Wilkinsons are slightly different from the originals, but still nice. I find them to be extremely smooth and useful trems with a wide range. I think they get an unfairly bad name, but are better than the stock Fender units.
