Grandturk Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 Dang that's nice. If I hadn't just bought a new les Paul...
ARM OF HAMER Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 WOW! As a BIG fan of Hamer "Sunbursts" this is one of the coolest and nicest "Sunbursts" I have seen in a long time! Bound and Crowned in a very hard to find "Natural" finish..............I'm always blowing my horn about Black "Sunbursts" but honestly if this had come around back when I was looking for that 2d Black "Sunburst" I was wanting I WOULD have had no issues owning this one...........it looks like a fine guitar with a pretty top................great patina on the guitar and the original case all in nice condition........... like Kiz said one piece neck and a early 79 issued guitar..............its got it all. "Natural" is more uncommon than Black as far as finish goes is it not? This is VERY nice guitar! I can't see how anyone who is wanting one of these guitars would not want this one.
ARM OF HAMER Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 5 plus days to go and its already at almost $2,300.00!.................. that didn't take long! Thats a great guitar and still a great price.............. ............besides that is the best year and worth every penny .
ARM OF HAMER Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 You have some sharp eyes ................yeah it is a brass nut from the looks of it..............that would not stop me from bidding on this guitar as that is easy to replace with a good bone nut or something else if you wanted to .I do love this guitar and if I was still looking for one I'd be trying to buy it............."Natural" would be my 2d choice for finish color.
Frank Neli Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Hh hell, what a beauty. A good and fair price for the moment. I hope the hamers get more expensive, as they deserve.@ kizanski or the other specialists: Did not all early Hamers have a one piece neck? Thanks.
cynic Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 The three-piece neck transition happened in 79, about 50-60 guitars later than the one for auction.
pirateflynn Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Isn't this the one that Feynman owned awhile back?
Frank Neli Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Damn, shame on me, I do not know this ... never stop learning. But there is a happy end. I am stupid but happy: I have a one piece 9 0751
Bobby Marshall Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 If a guitar made in 1979 was well treated and well loved, wouldn't you expect the nut and the frets to have been replaced and possibly the bridge saddles. Even tuners crap out over time. My 81 standard show lots of love and will need a new nut soon.
Northsider Posted December 7, 2015 Author Posted December 7, 2015 I'm not so sure it's brass. It's been my experience, that over time (35+ years) the material yellows.
ARM OF HAMER Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Damn, shame on me, I do not know this ... never stop learning. But there is a happy end. I am stupid but happy: I have a one piece 9 0751 My first Black 1979 Hamer Sunburst.( 9 062 last number visible under light is 5................1 Piece neck. and my 2d 1979 Hamer Sunburst........ 9 1450. 3 Piece neck.
Frank Neli Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Is the 3 piece neck built like a Gibson? Is it easy to identify? Thanks!!!
kizanski Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Damn, shame on me, I do not know this ... never stop learning. But there is a happy end. I am stupid but happy: I have a one piece 9 0751 It's not necessarilly something that you want. There's a reason they switched to the 3 piece setup.
jimi page Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Isn't this the one that Feynman owned awhile back? I don't think it is. That one was 9 1004, one of the last few made right before the 3 piece neck, unless of course he owned another. It now resides in N.H.
ARM OF HAMER Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 I have received confirmation today from the seller of this Hamer "SUNBURST" that the nut on this guitar IS BRASS. I have a friend going for it so I hope he gets it ...............then I'll get to play it as well! .
Hbom Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 I have a friend going for it so I hope he gets it ...............then I'll get to play it as well! . In that case I'll lay off and wish him good luck.

Are you shure about natural finish, it looks like a faded trans red?
Grandturk Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Nice price on this one. Looks like a lot of guitar for 2300. Hope the buyer shows up here
