Our 11yo says it's finally time to upgrade the aging Wii. Looking at some of the tech sites, it seems that in the Xbox One vs PS4 arena, it all comes down to preference, and at this stage I have none.
PS4 seems to win the spec battle, with better looking titles even with cross-platform games, but Xbox looks to have an edge in smoother game play, as it can scale the resolution down when the action gets intense.
Microsoft wants the Xbox to be the center of your home entertainment experience, but we already have an AppleTV, so I'm not sure how much of that we'd utilize.
Both offer motion sensing systems with Xbox taking the lead with the Kinect, but other than some party games, which admittedly my 11yo daughter will enjoy, there's not that much "motion sensor" content for either system, although there's a bunch more for Xbox over PS4. However, on the horizon is a VR headset for PS4 which will utilize the PS4 sensor (The sensor is only $50, so that's kind of a cheap upgrade, anyway. The Kinect is $150, so if I buy an Xbox, then I'll probably get a bundle with the Kinect included).
Online? We don't let the 11yo do online multiplayer yet, but Xbox seems to have the edge in online offerings, although PS4's is less expensive. I read that Sony's site is down more, and that it can affect the ability to even play non-online content, which would be a buzzkill. I do need to read up on that more, though.

So, has anyone else fought this battle this year?
