killerteddybear Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 I'm looking for a realistic Leslie cabinet simulator and would like to know who likes what. I'm less interested in the preamp drive modelling and more interested in modelling of acoustic properties of the cabinet. Any thoughts?
geoff_hartwell Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 My personal favorite is the Korg G4. Discontinued and hard to find but really awesome. It came on my radar when Gov't Mule's first album came out and I loved Warrens use of it. A great standard is the Hughes & Kettner Rotosphere. Easy to find, very sturdy/roadworthy, and reasonable in cost. My favorite cheap version is the Line 6 Tone Core version, very cool, and you can swap modules if you like.
jaberwock Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 My Strymon Lex does a great job, running it in stereo obviously makes a big difference, but using it in mono onstage it's still " thick and chewy " considerably more convincing than my mates H9 Leslie emulation. The Neo Ventilator is considered the best, but very pricey. Jaberwock
killerteddybear Posted December 1, 2016 Author Posted December 1, 2016 Anyone using the Pigtronix Rototron?

hamerhead Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 The Lex is the best one I've heard on stage, enough that I checked out the guy's board specifically looking for what made that sound. Very convincing. You could go near-real deal without breaking your back and get a Motion Sound AR112. It's more subtle than a Leslie (a good thing for guitar, IMHO), but it actually moves air, something a pedal won't do. Mine was on stage every gig.
Teh Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 +1 on the Strymon Lex. I did the research when looking for one a year or so back. Wanted to go with the Ventilator but couldn't justify the $$. The Lex is the next best thing, IMO.
Steve Haynie Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 The H&K Rotosphere was the best we heard at the music store back in the 90's. There are 20 years that have passed since then, so you should be able to find a used one for a reasonable price.
tomteriffic Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 Anybody heard the Lester G/K from EH yet?
Armitage Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 The closest I ever got to a true Leslie sound was when I fell off stage, well it was only the first woosh part... but it was close!
