And some people live by a different code of ethics... what's the point of having a WTB section if members don't practice common courtesy & social etiquette and decide to backstab and f@#k each other?

Do you even know for sure you were first in line?  There could have been a half dozen "I'll take it" PMs before your public declaration.

Do you honestly feel someone was stabbed in the back or fucked here?  The OP was nearly fucked out of a grand but you're fine with that?

Again this isn't about me, this is about the principle of it all... and yes I do feel people went behind other people's backs "just as YOU said"... I just fucking hate when other people make excuses for other people's bad behavior!.. I've always tried to live my life doing good by helping other people and obviously have a hard time understanding these types of situations... it happens all the time!.. BTW, nobody was fucking him out of $1,000... HE initiated the price and was good with it...

That's not what I said at all.  I said there were likely side offers being made given there was room above the ask to still get a great deal.  When someone sells a house they set a price and offers often come in above, at and below the ask.  The seller will choose among the offers which to accept.  Why is this considered unacceptable for a guitar?  It's not the norm but that doesn't necessarily make it wrong.

For the record I don't really like it any more than you, I'm only trying to make the point the OP deserves a fair price for his guitar and taking advantage of his ignorance of market value is no more admirable than his cancelling the sale.

First of all this analogy is all wrong to this particular scenario... the rules are the seller sets the price... I agreed to HIS set price... there is no "accepting format"

& what gives you the right to call me out on a public forum accusing me of taking advantage of his ignorance?

just in case someone falls in love.

There is no love. There is GAS.

Counting times to put it back to original would justify the price easily.

In a perfect world that would be awesome. But in reality we're all backstabbing f@#kers.

Raise your hand if you'd take $500 less for any of your guitars for any reason.

Yeah, he f'ed up but did the smart thing by pulling it and let everyone know why. As much as it sucks for potential buyers, wouldn't you like to find out before rather than after that you left considerable money on the table?

Bad form? Maybe. Smart? Definitely.

Do not think that's what you call smart . Smart would be to find out the value of what you have before posting here. Or, another SMART ( after learning, that your guitar is more valuable, and to avoid all this nonsense) would be to tell everybody - the guitar sold. Give it couple of weeks and then put it on ebay or so.
Right now some guys feel as if they scored the guitar on ebay at a great price only to learn that the seller wants more $$$ on top of it.
Unfortunately, verbal agreements are not binding anymore.

But there's reputation to consider.  What's it worth to be considered a stand-up guy?  I have a friend who has as one of her life's guiding principles "Don't be that girl."  As in, "Did you see that girl at the party?" or "Did you hear about what that girl did outside the bar?"

Good idea about the sold announcement.  That way the only one who knows about the f-up is the not-quite-seller.

I meant 'smart' for not allowing himself to be raped for making a mistake. Just as you or anyone else here wouldn't want to be.

The 'sold' thing is a great idea, but I'd bet things happened pretty fast once it was listed and he was scrambling to avoid said reamage.

We're done here.  If the seller cares to relist at a new price, that's totally fine with us.
