I know of at least ONE thing that they won't do (that they have done before). Apparently, there is no amount of money that will change their mind right now. I've said every time that cost is not an object, and can back it up with the green. It is just not something they are interested in doing at this time.

Quit playing games, Devereaux. Give up the information.

Ditto Chris. I have a number of things they wont do yet. If anyone thinks it's all about money, it aint so so please quit repeating it. It just makes people feel that its a personal judgement if they get rejected. I had a 90 minute conversation about this with Jol yesterday. There are piles of specific reasons why they wont do certain things. Call the factory or Frank R if you want to know about an option or model. Some of the things arent even constuction, but rather certain woods they wont use. Some of the reasons are simple market place identity.

The nice thing is that tomorrow could be different. I got the impression they are about to change their mind on one thing I have been asking for for years, so fuggit, I'm putting my order in to see what happens.

I was also surprised to hear that there is no shortage of boomerangs whatsoever.

Actually, I've tested that one no less than 5 times in the last few years. I know of at least ONE thing that they won't do (that they have done before). I can respect that, but will still keep trying...

Snicker, snicker...what I didn't say in my post is that I have something that I'm dreaming up that I really...well, quite bluntly I don't have the balls to even ask for! One of these has been made before, too...

I will say that it will (maybe) have 12 strings, be a bass, and have points...

It won't be pink snakeskin, though. Hint.

I am done with this shit. I have asked for a quote many times thru the dealers and Hamer said NO everytime, not even a quote. They said we are not making Chaps at this time, so I have tried, Hamer lied to me.. Jack.

This thread is one of the most bizarre things I have ever read. Doesn't the new board have an archive feature? If so, we're saving this for posterity, right?

actually Jack, I think these guys are pulling your leg a bit....

Well, the Chap Custom thing is a very touchy subject for me as I was ready to buy one a few times and Hamer said no everytime, not even a quote. I have given them every oportunity to take my money for me, but obviously it is who you are with them and I am a nobody that had a bunch of money sitting around, my doesn`t spend with them. My dream guitar is a Custom made 1 Hum Chap, but I would have taken 2 hums to get it. I can see it is all politics at Hamer, terrible way to run a business, they weren`t that way not to long ago. Jack.

It's also my understanding that Hamer has been known to change thier mind overnight. Try again. Perhaps the answer will be different.

I'm just glad this post has not only taken bizzare turns, but it has a page three so I no longer have to scroll really fast to avoid looking at Poe's hairy ass. :P

Yeah, they don't know hit about business OR making guitars.

Jack, if you have the dough, they'll do it.

The dough will be way beyond what you are willin to pay, though.

JACK!!!! THEY DID NOT LIE TO YOU.

THEY DID NOT BUILD A CHAP FOR ANYBODY!!!

THEY DO NOT DISCRIMINATE - YOUR MONEY IS AS GOOD AS BILL GATES' !!!!!

THEY ARE ENTITLED TO APPROVE OR DENY BUILDING SOMETHING IF THEY WANT!

Really - there is nothing to get upset over - they will probably not build a Chap for Vernon Reid right now!! Why do you think he still plays his old guitars?!?!!?!?!

What I want to have built is a simple thing based on things that are currently in production. To me it is not a big stretch, but I COMPLETELY respect their decision to not build it. As Steve (Phoenix) pointed out above, it is not about who you are or how much money you have, it is about what HAMER decides is within their direction, current means, etc. to build. THAT is the real deal.

Like it or not, a Chap doesn't fit any of these for the company right now. This is not a case of your dealer lying to you, Hamer lying to you or the Man in the Moon lying to you - they simply are not building Chaps now! How exactly did they lie to you if they just said "No" ??

This is not a conspiracy against you...

(Edited because I went over my HFC-mandated Exclamation Point Limit)

Jack, In all seriousness, do you understand why it is so expensive for Hamer to build you the Chap? It's not as simple as them wanting to. These guitars are built through the use of pre-programmed electronic templates and patterns..essentially a cnc machine. Necks, bodies etc OF THE CURRENT PRODUCT LINES are all mass constructed and assembled systematically. The Chap and all of it's design charateristics and therefore equipment and machine settings were all shelved ages ago. They cannot be recalled that easily, it would mean the complete reorganization of a number of staffers and the equipment that is used to built not only the Chap you want, but the rest of the product line as well. Can you see why this is so excruciatingly costly? Think of the assembly line at Ford and how customized it is to the current year of cars, suddenly someone wants a '68 Mustang. They'd have to virtually rebuild the entire factory to make that happen. Jackson, Charvel etc. are still using the shredder manufacturing designs and therefore do not have to recreate the wheel to build one. Go with the Jackson.

Well, I thought they made a custom one for Peter, until I just recently found out he was just kidding me, my fault, sorry for that. Hamer didn`t lie to me, and I am now moving on to my dream Jackson. It`s all cool now. Jack.

Jack: Let me first extend an apology to you about the post, the guitar in the picture is not made in 2005 (although I never stated it was). As Chris M. and some others were very fast to see, it is just a nice variation on the theme that was made back in the '80s. I am guilty of the "let's yank Jack's internet ding-a-ling" for a little bit, so I am sorry about that.

You really should read the post that are made by the other people here, there are some very good and valid points and they are said to help you out, not pick on you. It has nothing to do with you or your money on whether or not they will build you the guitar you have been dreaming of. If anything you should listen to what people said here and not give up and continue to ask, who knows, tomorrow they may build the guitar of your dreams. But please don't direct any negativity at Hamer for not doing it at this time. I am sure that when the time and conditions are right, they will make exactly what you want.

You just need to continue to keep asking your dealer to see if you can get it made and you should keep your eyes open because I can almost guarantee that at some point in time over the last 25 years they made the guitar you are dreaming of, it is out there and it WILL surface.

In my own defense, let me just add, that I couldn't stand to see that pic of Poe's ass either so I had to do something........

Peter.

way to turn a wicked, unexpected twist into a cliched feel-good hollywood ending peter.

roeper gives it one thumb down for the "unrealsitc plot and predictable ending" but ebert gives it a thumb up for the "wonderful dialogue"

perfectly understandable. Even worse, it's the old "fat poe ass" and not the newer "svelte poe ass". Not that I'm solicitating for an update, mind you....

I appreciate that Peter. I take guitars very seriously, sometimes too much :-) I will buy the Jackson for now and maybe try for the Hamer down the road. Thanks-Jack.

I use to have 2 Jackson Fusions bro!! Coral Sea(I miss that one) and an Electric Blue one. They have become hard to find of late, they were only made for 2-3 years. If you like the Cali neck, you will like the Fusion. Jack.
