bigolsparky Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 My biggest regrets in my guitar dealings were trading away one of the lawsuit "Rocket Roll Seniors" and trading away a Charvel Model 3. The original Korina Destroyers were one of my favorite guitars to salivate over. I assume they were very similar to my Rocket Roll Senior.
RobB Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 They weren’t korina. They were constructed from Sen, a Japanese hardwood similar to ash.
Steve Haynie Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 Rick Medlocke's #1 from Blackfoot to Lynyrd Skynyrd was an Ibanez that looked like korina but was ash but called sen that is really close to ash and from Japan.
tommy p Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 OK, I checked actual sales on eBay and the Phil Collen models are going for about what you'd expect, NOT the ridiculous asking prices of the current listings. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but most of the ones listed currently are in Japan.

Most sales from Japan on eBay and Reverb are middlemen. Use Google to search for an image or some text from the ad to see if you can track down the actual shop that has the guitar. I just paid $860 shipped for a guitar from Ishibashi that was listed multiple times on eBay for prices ranging from $1150 to $1250.
JimHalinda Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 I recently did a Google search and found some thread (can't remember where) that said the V-2 is the Ibanez equivalent of a DiMarzio Super Distortion, and that they may even have been made for Ibanez by DiMarzio... Edited to add: just saw another thread which claims they were made by Gotoh.... so who knows?

The original 70's through early 80's V2 pickups were made in Japan by Maxon & were Anico 5 magnets as opposed to the ceramic magnets of the DiMarzio SD... not sure who the manufacturer of the 90s version of the Ibanez V-series pickups V1, V2, V7,V8 which are not the same pickups
JimHalinda Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 Cool, thanks for the info! May be quite awhile before I give this one back to my buddy
hanspanzer Posted April 26, 2019 Author Posted April 26, 2019 If anyone has a Maxon V5 lying around, please message me The marker pen removal was easy. The frets and neck is in good shape, just needed som cleaning, polishing and oiling. Started on the body. I`m not gonna do much, but the chunks of paint that`s missing on the horn, needs to be sorted out.
hanspanzer Posted December 30, 2019 Author Posted December 30, 2019 Haven`t updated this but I did get hold of at set of Maxon V5. Needs to install them.
HAMERMAN Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Cool guitars! Any idea if the white/red came with the locking nut and trem or if that was added?

I can't help but keep playin' "...just another hit an' run"... I know your all singing it right now, I bet you are. "Wasted...."
