Question

Hey Hamer Fans!

I'm trying to figure out what year my Hamer Prototype was produced. I know that it was a special order. I bought it from Sam Moss Guitars, in Winston-Salem, NC.

I've looked online, but can't find the scheme for special orders.....

Thanks for any help you can muster up!

The serial number is 411077

If that‘s in any way serious, it ought to be 1994.

Very cool Prototype & Logo for a Hamer.

The 84 Custom Ordered Sunburst I have for sale now is from that same dealer & is 817 serial number away from that guitar.

Does it have a stamped or pressed-in serial number?

ink stamped  , Hamer didn't start pressing the serial number till early 88 I believe.

It was from 1984.  Sam also had a Blitz in a similar scheme - Candy Tangerine, double-bound...but I don't recall that one having the "Hamer Rocks Hard!" logo.  I'm not sure, but I think I have a stocklist from Sam's shop with your guitar listed - I know I have one with the matching Blitz around.

I bought my first Hamer from Sam in December, 1984 - a Ferrari Red Special with a Floyd Rose.

Sam was the coolest, for sure.  He just got his star on the Winston-Salem Walk of Fame last weekend, and Chris Stamey has a Go-Fund-Me or something to raise money to get a long-lost Sam album released.

It seems stamped to me, but i'm not really up on it.  There's no texture to it.

Yes.  I was referring to the guitar @bruce919 was referencing.

Cool headstock shape. Don't ever recall seeing that logo, fortunately.

It was taken from the mid-1980s "Hamer Rocks Hard!" campaign.

Right, but have you ever seen it on a guitar?  Is that original?

I've seen it on that guitar, and if I recall correctly, my local dealer at the time had a matching double-bound Blitz.  David Barker might have a clearer recall of the Blitz - I think he owned it originally.   Sam ordered all kinds of wacky stuff, and that is definitely original.   Even if I hadn't known the guitar was in NC, I would have recognized it as one of Sam's orders - "Da Sultan" alone would give it away, but I've got one of his monthly (and very entertaining) stocklists around somewhere with that guitar described.
