BillW Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 Own? Many... (Less than a dozen.) Use? I really don't use any of them live except for 1 when I use my 'small rig' - (Basically a tweed Fender PJ 4). That 1 would be a Wampler Tumnus (the small one)
Hackubus Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 About 15 years ago, I had a bunch. Then I came to the sad realization most of them were tube screamer variants. Now I just have an 88 model Rat, Waza SD1 & a Timmy. I’m holding on to my old early small enclosure Catalinbread Pico & Serrano boosts in case JHS accidentally not on purpose drives up the market price on them.
jwhitcomb3 Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 My son has adopted my Tumnus, Mojo-Mojo and Dark Matter pedals. I use a Boss GT-1000CORE in front of my Quilter Aviator Mach 3 amp - that's it. Most of my GT presets have some light compression, and a few have a dirt-box model or two set for low-to-medium gain (I don't use the amp/cabinet sims). Mostly I play pretty clean.
Steve Haynie Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 Thanks to @JGale I am now +1 in the fuzz pedal department. This gift arrived in the mail a couple of days ago, and I have been making nice buzzy guitar tones with it.
HamerHokie Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 In the pedalboard: EH Soul Food, Lawrence Petross Sixty8 Drive. Floating around my house: ZVex Box of Rock, Boss Power Stack, ProCo Rat What I'd like to try: A good germanium treble booster, Xotic BB Preamp
Studioplayer Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 Just a Boss DS1 and it sits mostly. When used I keep the drive very low. I like a bit of power tube distortion mixed into the amps's gain. Not being one to use a lot of gain, My Dark Terror provides about all I need, including the power tube distortion and still keep it at a reasonable house-friendly volume. studioplayer

He's a little bit of alright.
bubs_42 Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 To many, I’ll have a sale soon. They are all great, but I have a few that just work for me. 2 Original Timmys (Non better, but the MXR is readily available and you can match it identical with a V2 Timmy) 1 MXR TImmy (Save your money and buy this over the V2 unless you just want a V2 Timmy) Remember pots are reversed to the V2 Timmy 1 Vintage TS9 ( Really sounds killer, not a lot of gain, just a lot of tone) 2 Vanilla Zendrives (Most open Zendrive ) 1 Prince of Tone (feel its a fantastic pedal, unique, flexible) 1 MXR Duke of tone ( I prefer it over the POT and it’s more available.) 1 Reverend Drivetrain ( Don’t like Tube Screamers? You may love this one) 1 Visual Sound Drivetrain (Same as the Reverend, but cheaper) 1 Visual Sound Chainsaw (Super Highly Recommended) 1 Lovepedal COT Handwired 2 Seymour Duncan Pickup Boosters (Version 1 Handwired) $40 you should buy one! 6 Saucy Boxes (Two Regular, Two Hard Clipping, One Limited Ed Pink, One Limited Ed All Black) Looking for a Box of Rock by ZVex, moving a few of the above soon.
Jakeboy Posted April 26, 2023 Posted April 26, 2023 I have a bunch and I really don’t use many….I do like a good treble booster and a good fuzz, though. I do like having several different drives around for recording when I want a different , well, effect or flavor. Dirt is like a tonal palette….but I have sold a bunch in the last year. I could honestly get by with a TB, a Fuzz Face, and a Timmy.
murkat Posted April 26, 2023 Posted April 26, 2023 my TS-9 I bought new in 82' and a homemade PI rams head that sounds glorious for $50. That's it. and they sit on a shelf.
