Wheels are in motion to get this RedBird South. I'm not selfish, y'all can stop by and play it if you get this way with proper reservations requested. I have wanted an FB for a long time. I like to think 1987 was a pretty Cool year and thins like this from that era make it Cool. Time to get one with my inner Floyd Rose too.

Careful now:

Looks like a reprise of the black korina Standard imbroglio.

Yeah I saw that and am suprised that wasn't mentioned last night. Hope there will be no hard feelings as it is just a guitar. I would give HD first dibs should ity not be something I like.

These two "Firebirds" helped fuel my FB urges in recent times. Robbin Crosby and his use of Hamer FBs didn't help either.

BTMN,

Damn! You had dibs on this FB 2 weeks ago? That is about when I asked Brentrocks specifically about this baby. I think it was before I bought his Zakk OD. Did he forget? I do know it was certainly after Kiz' pleading for it. Lol!

Kind of disappointed right now.

Hmmm if dibs is posting "DANG!!!" in his "I got a..." thread then I woulda been second after Murkat and Kiz was later. I have no knowledge of any other dibs or pm dibs or phone dibs. I saw this F/S last night and called Brent and he and I agreed Kiz would be contacted first and then I found Sledhead44 had called dibs in that I Got... thread so i saw he was contacted. When you posted you had pmed Brent I'm suprised yopu did not mention talking with him when you guys did the pedal deal buyt maybe in your pm you did.

I hope that now that Brent and I have agreed to a deal that it will proceed. I apoligize that you feel left out on this. Maybe this will come your way someday sooner or later with no hard feelings about it.

A Hamer Firebird comes up for sale for $650 lousy bucks and I don't fucking buy it...

Don't say I never gave you anything, Gene.

This guitar should go to Gene, fair and square.

Here's my $0.02 on "dibs"...

I acquired a particular rare Hamer several years ago. There were several calls of "dibs". At the time, I thought that the thing to do would be to let the first "dibs" have at it.

Here's the difference between "dibs" and "I will pay you for that guitar right now, cash is in hand":

The "Dibs" dude strung me out for almost a year, promising to pay for the guitar. The other two "cash in hand" buyers, both moved on and bought other things, so I was left holding the bag. I finally re-listed the guitar, and almost two years later, it went to the first serious buyer who contacted me, and we were both happy with the deal. The original "dibs" guy actually wanted to know why I "sold it out from under" him!

I will NEVER hold "dibs" again.

Money talks, bullshit walks.

I agree with this for the most part (another unsolicited $0.02).

If the "dibs" guy has the money, or will have it in a reasonable timeframe, then fine, but after that agreed upon timeframe has passed, then it's up for grabs.

If you get strung along for a year, it's because you let it happen.

That said, at the end of the day, it's impossible to know who called dibs on anything. I honestly don't know if I was the first, but a few people seem to think I was, but that's not even the issue.

Besides whatever posts are visible here, there's PM, email, text and phone messages (I think Brent has posted his phone number somewhere on this board...of course I may be thinking of someone else...), so no one knows that someone didn't email him the second he posed that he had bought it and called "dibs," so all of this discussion is moot.

Still waiting for Mitch to post so I can quote him and say "Mitch says it best" . . .

Brent seems like a straight shooter to me so I don't doubt he did what he thought was right. In the end that is the best any of us can do right?

Congrats on the FB. I love the color and the OFR.

If you make it to Chicago this year, would you consider bringing her for the trip?

Anything is possible. I had some other thing in mind, and flying on a plane does have it's limitations, but it had crossed my mind. ^_^

I assumed you drove in for last year as I thought you had your four digit which is another assumption that no one would check a four digit on a flight. I am sure whatever guitar you bring will make most of us giddy.

Hope she is a keeper.

All the best,

Bobby

Dave....i'm sorry you feel that way. I felt i was being fair to all parties involved....Gene was very passionate about this guitar and once Kiz passed, i felt that since Gene had already comitted financially and didnt try to lowball me or tire kick, the deal had a good feel and it was a sure thing, win-win....he made the effort to call me and we talked for over an hour on the phone....i had a good vibe about selling it to Gene.
