  6. I don't think that's the one for sale. The OP says his is "Just LIke" this one.
  7. Yeah, he's really the "father of the superstrat", or at least an uncle. Even though I think he sold the company to Grover Jackson in 1978 after bankruptcy, he'd already changed the landscape.
  8. Birds Eye Maple body and neck.
  9. I purchased a custom shop SG from @santellavision a bunch of years ago. It has the Alnico 3 Custom Buckers in it and has THE sound. Playing it immediately turns me into a five foot tall schoolboy.
  10. If it was across town, I'd go get it. Across the ocean, I'm not so quick on the trigger. The thought of having nearly 2% of the entire Graphic production is enticing, though.
  11. Good grab! It was in my cart for a minute.....
  12. Or the birth of the "superstrat"
  13. Shaking the tree for a Korina Newport Pro or Korina Newport. Let me know if you have one or see one for sale please.
  14. Oh man, that's sad to hear. The importance of his shop to the guitar community in the LA area cannot be overstated, and without Charvel, there very possibly would have been no Jackson. The list of people who had worked with his shop, from just getting work done to getting a full custom guitar, reads like a Hall of fame for LA guitarists of the 70s and 80s.
  15. Thanks for posting. While it did pique my curiosity. It just sold. (Not to me)
  16. What @diablo175 said. Taking this TDC to heart, it sucks. When I was in grade/middle school, Wayne's shop was up on Arrow Highway in Azusa, CA. I wasn't playing guitar yet, but I have fond memories of riding my BMX there and just staring at all the guitars on the walls. Wayne and his employee were nice enough, mostly ignoring me as it was a business. First time I ever saw a Marshall full-stack...it scared me, lol! A few years later when I did start on guitar there were shops all over SoCal with Charvels, and they were expensive! Could never afford one then, and original PrePros are going for upwards of $10k these days. RIP, Wayne. You were a talented builder and a visionary.
  17. Just a quick update. 1) I posted earlier that it came with the unfilled warranty card which also stated that the guitar shipped with .009s. I restrung it with .009s and the floyd is set up perfectly! I was literally wondering if the strings on the guitar were the original?? 2) The strap button is on the upper bass horn and there was never a strap button not the rear neck heel, I've also seen the placement in both places and wondered when/why it shifted? But it obviously came from the factory this way as the back is pristine. 3) No Hameritis here but the headstock does worry me .... it's fine now and honestly I doubt I'll take this on many gigs but it sits in my studio and looks great ... and I'll play it when I need that kind of thing. I think many of those headstocks suffered damage as many people crank down the nut way tighter then needed, it just has to be tight enough to stop string movement but people really overdo it. Let's hope the headstock holds up but I don't see any reason why it won't. 4) I've figured out the switching system .... I think it's very versatile but also way more complicated than I would like .... I could easily have lived with a simple 5 way but ... it's fine.
  18. The only shredder guitar / only Floyded guitar I have ever owned was a Charvel. I much preferred the aesthetic of the Ibanez Jem guitars, but it came down to what @diablo175 said, the neck. 1987 Model 3 (bought in '86) with EMG SA/SA/85 and SPC control I soldered up in my dorm room. I wish I had it back!
  19. I am not a fan of the 57's. I have a set in a CS ES339. Same kinda deal, muddy, no expresivness. Just gets muddled together and lost. Tell Josh what your looking for and he'll deliver. Has several times for me. I don't know how much time he has for winding between running the Bar/dancehall and being on the road gigging. But give him a shout.
