  1. Past hour
  2. Just to follow up on this, apparently a scam as I never received a tracking number nor any communication after payment here or in PP. Just disputed the charge.
  3. I might be risking getting tossed from the group, but I will admit that I have never paid $4k for a guitar. Also never bought one with a headstock repair. So I decided today was not the day to do both, but I would have been much more tempted had either one of those things, the price and/and the headstock, been closer to my comfort zone.
  4. So, Dave Hlubek did not have the only factory Confederate battle flag finish! Wow!!! The price was too high, but that Blitz is rare!
  5. Today
  6. After I had texted with him a bit about the details earlier, the dealer had the courtesy to let me know that it had been sold. No additional info.
  7. Jury is still out. Not sure the neck is a total game changer. But that is based on limited hours. It DOES seem to be a bit easier to move about. BUT, I suppose some of that is that it is a "faster" neck (meaning thinner) than I usually prefer. Also, I have not changed strings yet........It does feel a bit too slinky. Probably 9s on the LP scale length. Best thing (IF you can find one near you) would be to test drive one. My thumb seems to be weaker (injury) than it used to be, so maybe this will end up being more comfortable. FWIW, I also got inundated (like daily) with offers. I did have a specific model I was looking for, based upon their demos. However they never had one exactly configured that way on their site. Trying to spec one out on their site for a build order did not seem to get me there. And when I "chatted" on line about that, they never seemed to answer my question. So I did not pursue a direct purchase. A used one popped up. Not the "ideal" one I wanted. But good enough to take a risk, at barely a third of what the "ideal" tricked out one would have likely cost. So, hard to complain. But maybe I just got someone on the other end of a chat that was just not getting it......
  8. The all-black is cool, but this hunk of body wood would have looked much better painted.
  9. Yesterday
  10. Apologies as I'm likely trafficking in hearsay but a social media or forum post in reply to someone asking about who's making a close approximation of a Hamer these days had that in it. Basically saying that Mike's got a handful of orders to fill and then he's hanging up his tool belt.
  11. I've been bombarded on Facebook by Dean's new company. I'm curious. Do you have the "neck"? What are your thoughts?
  12. My local dealer has this available: 1984 Blitz, "very obviously custom ordered and is all original, including the factory Kahler tremolo." Also "It's a great playing and sounding guitar that shows HEAVY wear and a pretty gnarly headstock repair that is stable but that we have not attempted to clean up. Original case is present and intact, but has seen better days." His price is $4,000. Some of his regular online advertising outlets won't let him advertise this one, which is why I don't have a link for you. His Facebook post is already filling up with the sort of commentary that isn't permitted on our fine well-administered website. I can put well-established members in touch if you message me. I also have a few more photos that give more detail on the wear and tear. I've bought from and sold to him and wouldn't hesitate to do so again, if he has what I want at a price I can handle.
  13. I have mentioned before Barry at Grez Guitars in California.....Assuming the things he builds are in your style. When it became apparent I would not be able to score that second (or third) Shishkov, I got a couple that I think are pretty damn good consolation prizes. And a very quick turnaround (8 weeks or so) on custom orders. This other one may well draw some flak, but I recently stumbled onto a used LA Voce by Dean Zelinsky. Bends (if not breaks) some rules, with a few secrets under the hood, but I am impressed. Played it with some other folks for a couple hours Saturday and it went over well. Covers a lotta the same territory as my Shishkov (Or for that matter my Parker Mojo Fly). No, not as good, but I do like it.
  14. Sorry, but I ain't getting rid of my ash partscasters fer nobody.
  15. I couldn't hear a difference, but it is youtube. I bet if feels different under the fingers. I have a pine tele I need to put together. I think my other one is alder. They will sound different because of the different pickups etc but one may be more resonant than the other or just make me play differently.
  16. Is this speculation RE Mike, don’t recall any announcement…. Not too many guitars recently finished arniez
  17. Buy them and put them in a drawer like I do.
  18. FIFY! My opinion, of course, but not being a fan of high output pickups, these are exactly the right amount of more. I've been trying to come up with some excuse - something to put these in - but so far I've got nothing. There is another one of these I've been watching forever on Reverb. He's down to $200 - for one pickup (started at $250)!

  20. I’ve lived in Phoenix on and off. I spent at least a couple birthdays there. Good times for this original AC Band fan! I was sad to hear it closed. He was decent later too!
  21. I noticed that while on the Celestion site today!
