  2. Any updates on this? Hope it worked out for you!
  3. Been a fan since the beginning. Saw the first tour ("Light Me Up" at the Beat Kitchen, a tiny bar in Chicago), then a slightly bigger club in Chicago (Bottom Lounge), and three or four tours after that. I don't do the concert thing anymore or I'd still go see 'em, excellent live act. Guitarist had great tone, and really tasteful chops. Taylor is a monster vocalist- not sold with her doing Soundgarden but love her on her own material.
  4. Feel better, WM. Fell last November in an icy parking lot and did the same thing (including fucking up my rotator cuff and tearing the tendon). Recovery took months, not a fun ride, but one that does end.

  7. Thanks, very cool article. Only one Ace.
  8. May the Good Lord heal you quick Willie G!

  10. Just saw this on another forum, and it's a really good read. Larry makes some great pickups, and also does have a gift for writing. I love hearing about his "war stories" from the old days. Remembering Ace Frehley Larry DiMarzio talks with Ace's tech, Rocco Monterosso, recalling Ace's gear, his early embrace of DiMarzio pickups, and much https://www.dimarzio.com/stories/remembering-ace-0
  11. Jon Herington had that disconnected Tone control on his, was it Talladega?
  12. Regrettably, that bore remarkable similarity to me at work any time I am forced into "pocket-protector mode" (the euphemism we use when I am called out of my actual job to attend to tech support tedium). Conclusion: never should I ever attempt home recording!
  13. Never heard of it, but that's not surprising. The description sounds ideal: "The alnico-magnet Ruby 12" aims to combine a bit of heralded “chime” from Celestion’s popular alnico 15-watt Blue model with the vintage-rock attitude of its 90-watt alnico Cream model in a 35-watt unit for mid-powered combos." Sort of a kicked up Blue with higher power handling capability? Like I said, sounds ideal. From Premier Guitar's review: "With the Ruby, both amps lost a smidgen of volume, thump, and snappy articulation—a predictable result with a lower power rating and a softer-responding alnico magnet—but they also gained a more forgiving feel and some lovely natural compression. This instantly made both combos not only sound more “classic” and broken-in, but also imbued settings that had previously seemed either lackluster or strident with lustrous new life. Put another way, the Ruby mellowed each amp a tad, but there was still plenty of growl and zing—and I never encountered any of the grating, overwhelmed-sounding harshness that many alnico-magnet speakers get when pushed hard." Buy from Bubs!
  14. Except for the hairstyle, that seems very familiar!
  15. My issue w/Julien's now is that their proof requirements have gotten more extensive and I have to basically start from ground zero if I want to bid again, and I've won at least one auction from them in the past. Their shipping is high, but the stuff comes packed well. I knew that the shipping was a bit higher, and I knew what the buyer's fee was, but I may have neglected to communicate that to my wife, who was a tad less than happy when she saw the final cost.
  16. But is the Super 7 1.2 really different than the Super 7 Sugar? I know, one is black and the other is white. IME that doesn't always make them sound different.
  17. LIke New, I purchased it to try in an amp and give Alnico another run. I’m still a Ceramic Guy if guess. NO rips, Tears, Dings, Cone Noise, its like new. $215 Shipping and Paypal included in the lower 48.
  18. Ribs break... The man makes plans to write a book and go to a guitar show. Willie G. Moseley is the Chuck Norris of guitar journalists!
  19. Way too many drive options. Now I see Lovepedal running a "sale" on a Super 7....."One better than a Super 6". The Super 6 being the Super Reverb on six, sometimes called the "SRV" setting. Get those tubes cooking without earsplitting volume. FWIW, I really like that pedal with a boost in front for added flexibility on the fly. Yeah, I am a sucker.......
  20. Oh no!.. praying for a speedy recovery on both the ribs and the parkinson's issue 🙏
  21. On Thurs. 8 OCT I fell in a Walmart parking lot due to a Parkinson's balance issue. Broke three ribs. The medical folks recuperation will be long and slow, and this particular injury hurts like hell 'coz your ribs move when you're breathing. I can feel the broken ones (6, 7 and 8 ) grinding against eajch other deep inside. Should be back in action, if not 100%, around the first of the year.Therapy is basically taking it easy until ribs heal. I've got another "nostalgia" book in the works that should keep me busy. Been invited to the Rocket City guitar show in early Feb. and will try to make that venue since it's a first of its kind event,
  22. Cardboard "Uncle Dick" now at $1250. 👀
  23. Koch Blog - I like the name. Spelled a little differently.
