Let's see those Juniors you got (don't care what brand)
topekatj replied to Ua D's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
You’re a lucky man, that’s quite a trio! Is the Tobacco sunburst on the right an original finish? If so, cool, I was not aware that the double cutaway LPJrs came in that finish. Either way, I love that Gibson TSB finish from @ 1960. My second good guitar (after a ‘69 SG STD) was a 1961 Melody Maker, double cutaway, two pickup model. Same TSB finish. What a neck that MM had! -

Help a newbie with an import Hamer 12 String Bass
topekatj replied to mathman's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
@mathman if the anchor screws are tight on the L bracket (that the strings are attached to) then the L bracket is just bent. Have a machine shop fabricate something more HD and go with that. -
Cool, Does it come with cheap sunglasses? Time to get a propeller strap.

Not sure about the OBL’s, was referring to the Lawrence stuff being sold separately around ‘87, but I now believe the bridge pickup to be a recent offering from ‘Wylde’ (not Zack). https://www.wildepickups.com/products/l500?srsltid=AfmBOop-AP7LNC7HOtrkqWFb9zBGGvuapmX-5uGdUATp7r3VuRsF0B7g

That serial number photo shows that the back of the peghead was mucked with somehow. Eddie Roman (Jr.) gots skills and guns. ETA: Looks to be a Bill Lawrence pickup at the bridge (XL-500/550?). Not your typical Hamer factory original equipment.

@velorush agreed RE M&M including the neck dimensions and weight in their listings, outta be a law. @Dave Scepter thanks, I saw the 1 5/8” nut width in the listing. The rest of the neck dimensions look promising on paper: Shape: Medium C, measuring .860” 1st fret, .970” 12th fret, but it would probably be too narrow for my preference. @RobB What’s the neck like on your Greco MS?

@Dutchman: Hats off to you, the amp is a thing of beauty! Goodluck in your endeavors! Hoping to not threadcrap, if you don’t mind my asking, are you getting the cabinets from MOJOTONE, and the Fender nameplates directly from Fender? I always wanted a solid wood cabinet for my circa 1980 Champ, which is particle board, but not bad enough to spend $425! One used to be able to buy repro blackface name plates on Reverb, but not any longer. Thanks

How many red strats is enough red strats? -
It’s a Watson 8 string bass!

The body looks like mahogany, which I understood to be a body wood option. I think I’d prefer the sound of a hog body Californian over one with a maple body, but I’m sure they all sound unique.

Late last year I was looking for a Bakersfield (circa 2013), the predecessor to the Baker T. I’d read they built the Bakersfields along side the Seymour Duncan “35” teles. But, the ‘fields don’t come up for sale very often (most were maple FB, a few RW) and I bought a Baja tele I really like instead. FWIW, I like the logos on the ‘Field better than the one on the T, and also do not like the painted headstock on the T, but I’ve never played either one. Sweetwater sells the T and Pro and I recall seeing promo video a few months back that featured Matt Larrivee. The video also touted a Sweetwater exclusive T that has/had a uniform 9.5” neck radius but I do not see them listed on the SW site at present. Might be worth a call. GLWTP
