I didn't get that mail. Did everyone else get it? Perhaps I'm on the black list.... -

This one goes out to everyone at management level at Fender Corp. And a Merry Chrisfuckmas to you too! -

I did read this post a couple of days ago and I think Arnie has stumbled on something in the ashes of the fire here. This was one of the few thought provoking posts on the subject. There are still some custom orders to be completed - very interesting. Hamerica Does anyone think Fender will answer us if we write them a collectively signed letter asking them about their thoughts on Hamer. Is it possible they'll only put the USA manufacturing on a hiatus? Will they build again if they get enough custom orders? Will they consider selling the brand, (or part of it), etc? We are enough fans here to put some weight behind these questions, if only asked politely and in the right way. -

Yes, adapt to the market or go defunkt. Maybe this is not what Hamer was about, but It could for sure have been the right way to plunge ahead, for now at least. -
I'd re-introduce the Sunburst model, flat top and with sustain bridge. I'd give Larry Dimarzio a call and talk him in to building the 36 anniversary for Hamer as a non potted version (they refused to sell them to me unpotted when I mailed Dimarzio, true story). Those pups would be in most Hamers from now on, perhaps with a special wind. I'd re-launch the brand with a strong retro vibe and a total 1970's connection. Tag line "Hamer - built to perfection since 1974" (or whatever year). Only a few models to be worked with promotionally. Perhaps The Sunburst, Phantom, Standard and Vector, Monaco models, Newport and Talladega, but every model available on custom order. I would put the brand in the high end segment, but not in the absolute top end. I'd build mostly on orders, but have a small stock to sell. Only a few employees, like Gustavson, Huber etc. As a Hamer player you should feel like you are part of a legacy, and part of the 70's music history. The brand should be a connection to those times. That is how I would re-brand the name. A Hamer player should feel he identifies strongly with quality and the coolness factor of the 70s. How guitar music sounded then, and the top quality music gear from that time. I'd endorse some key players to be seen with the brand, such as perhaps The Black Keys, Graveyard, Rival Sons etc. band and artists with a cool look, great songs and great as live acts. No need for them to be super stars already, it's more important that they appeal to the "Hamer player" that we want to reach.

Yes, this is long over due. That is the coolest bass, (next to Bootsys star bass). Had I been a man of wealth, and not just good taste, I would have ordered one myself. -

No 1 fan. Has been a Prince fan since the mid 80's. If you want great guitar work check out the GOLD EXPERIENCE album. Might be out of print, but you can pick it up used om Amazon or ebay. His masterpiece, Sgt Pepper if you like, is SIGN O THE TIMES. That album is a must have, he never released anything better. The recent LOTUSFLOW3R had some cool guitars too. PARADE if you want some great rythm guitar tracks. CHAOS AND DISORDER has some rockin' tracks. I think there are some tracks on most of his albums that have great guitar solos and cool riffs and rythm parts. Either funky stuff or more rock oriented. -
When the rest of the world sucks!

Well, if it's bought from Amazon directly then they can probably take the hit of one lost CD. But in this case I bought from a small dealer who sells through Amazon. Amazon probably takes out a hefty charge so I don't think it's that rewardig for the small guy, (but I could be wrong). It felt better for me to know I had done right by this small shop. Anyone who still sells physical CDs today, or vinyl, deserves my support. I love the physical product of a good album. I don't like to stream music through my manly and expensive high fidelity stereo system. Im just to hip about it, so hip I'm old school. -

The HFC has always been a great place to buy & sell gear. Only on a handful occasions have I seen posts when people have been in disagreement. I've done great ebay deals WW too. Recently I bought a CD from Amazon UK that was out of print. It was really expensive from most sellers, but this seller had it for only 12 bucks. But it never arrived. I complained and the guy gave me a full re-fund. Then the CD arrived last week. I mailed him and told him I want make it right and pay for it again. He was very happy I did so. Was I stupid for not ripping him off? I don't feel stupid, if feel kinda good about the fact that settled my score. -
Custom Order Arrival-Cue Theme From Jaws

Cool as the bottom of my fridge. edit: it needs a pin up sticker though. Something busty! -
Singles are good for a lot of stuff. Strats can be to ice picky through Marshalls, but they love P90s.

Considering the Floyd..........
Disturber replied to carfish7's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Although my last Floyd Rose guitar, the Snakeskin SSII, was a tone monster and the best Floyd guitar I've ever played tonewise, I am done with Floyd equipped guitars. I highly doubt I will ever own another one. I don't miss them. In fact I'm really happy I got rid of my last one. Even if they sound huge, like my SSII, I have never encountered a Floyd guitar that does not have that special Floyd sound. In the end it started to anoy me. It's that "ping" you described. I can sooooo live without it. -
Hamer-licensed Floyd Roses -are they hard to find?
Disturber replied to zorrow's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
The Hamer/Schaller ones sound better than the original Floyd Rose ones. They are not as bright and have a little more hmpf! I think they have more metal in them, or better metal...? -
My five year old also saw the clip on my Android phone last week. He was not impressed at all, watched for 30 secunds then walked away. This is a guy who loves Marc Bolan and T-rex, Rush and has worn out my Tinted Windows CD. He's got good taste. Kiss in 2012, nah - "just old farts with whigs".

BCSrides's midlife crisis guitar - Steve Stevens 1 SS1
Disturber replied to bcsride's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Congrats. The SS1's are killer guitars, and one of the best options out there for a short scale Floyd Rose guitar. The "F" spaced bridge thing is more a sale trick from the pick up makers to sell more product than anything that really affects the tone. Most of my fave records with Floyd Rose guitars on them were recorded before these were "invented". And I really never heard a difference on my own guitars. -
Dwezil Zappas guitar vault. Hamer content.

Yeah, with the strings anchored through the back of the body. I don't recall ever seeing that on a Standard. Pretty cool. Actually I never liked that look. Always makes me think of Korean Jacksons or other Asian (cheaper) guitars. Only looks right on a Vector. -
Great looking HamerStandard with P90s in the beginning of the vid:

Score of the day. 1977 Electro Harmonix Memory Man! :-)
Disturber replied to Disturber's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I can try to do it later on. We are recording with the band right now so I am trying to get to the rehersal place when I have time over to lay down guitars. When that is done I'll try to record the Memory Man. Here is a vid I found you Youtube of one of these things: -

Most old EH pedals can be a little funky. It's a thing to expect. I would not take this thing to a gig. But it's sounds damn nice and as a recording tool I think it can be really usefull. But I was actually looking for something for rehersals, and gigs, when I came across this one. I have to find a cheap analog delay that is reliable for that kind of use. At those sound levels it does not matter if it's not "the best" sounding unit out there. It should be priced so I can afford if it takes the hit of a beer mug.
