Something you don't see every day
Disturber replied to specialk's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Sorry, they played something...? I was just busy looking two girls with things that looked like it's from the Alien movies strapped between their legs. That WAS weird, indeed. Kinda kinky too. -
I just saw the LEMMY movie last night so it's been a Kilmister binge all day. Motörhead and I go back together until around 1981-1982 when I was twelve and first heard them. My parents did not allow me to go and see them live then, but I have seen them at least a dozen times through out the years. Great band. Had it's ups and downs. My fav record is Another perfect day, a bit un orthodox perhaps, (and Ace of Spades of course).

So Jon Lord went away to see the gods of Valhalla. He made some classic riffs on that organ for sure. I was never a big fan of his classicaly influenced style. But a lot the stuff on the early Gillan Purple stuff was good, Machine Head and such. I started to think of good Hammond, organ and keyboard players that I like. Preferably Hammond players on the list, but other types will do. Here is my top 5 list, really in no particular order: Booker T. Bernie Worrell (clearly the greatest, and the biggest genious of them all!) Billy Preston. Ian McLagan (absolutely on of my favs). Edgar Winter Who's on your list?

Don't know who the guy is. But I don't even care to listen. The Queen is long dead. Let her rest.

Say what you will about John Mellancamp...
Disturber replied to gtone's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I have been a big Mellencamp fan since the 80's. First time I saw him was the Lonesome Jubilee tour. I wonder if Mike Wanchic played Hamers then, can't remember. He had Kenny Aronoff whos such a monster drummer. And Lisa Germano on violin. I've hard so much about Springsteen shows where Bruce tears the roof down sending the audience home exstatic. Well every Mellencamp gig I've seen has been like that +1. Just a great artist and songwriter who know how to pic great musicians to back him up. -
Some great stoner rock cream style
Disturber replied to Disturber's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Yeah, maybe not stoner... got a little carried away. I heard them today and decided I got check them out live in August. They sound retro. -
Another LONG rant about people not paying for music
Disturber replied to MCChris's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Ouch, this turned in to a long thread that kinda slid of the rails. Although I enjoy your witty post Polara, always good to read your wise words. And Zen too. I think Corgan puts the finger on someting in this interview here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AeDRsdGz_E Plus 2 minutes in to the vid. Okay, I need to go and see a man about a kebab. See ya´ later -
This is a great band from the south of Sweden. Check it out:

Another LONG rant about people not paying for music
Disturber replied to MCChris's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Yes. You all have a point. But the point they were trying to make is why is it okay to pay so much to the internet providers but not to the musicians? Like the article said: "...your generation is the first generation in history to rebel by unsticking it to the man and instead sticking it to the weirdo freak musicians!" Why is it okay to think that musicians and people in the entertainment biz should be happy with less income, but no one thinks twice about criticising the greedy cable providers, phone companies and hard ware manufacturers etc? F.u.c.k. them I say. They have lousy support and usually sell pretty bad products at high prices. We, the users, have to beta test products released on the market way before they are really ready to be launched, still full of bugs etc. Why is that okay? Just saying... -
Another LONG rant about people not paying for music
Disturber replied to MCChris's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
That was quite a bullshit article. Yes, it's easy to say: "...make good music and sell it yourself " Sure, but who will buy. To sell something, anything, you need to market it. Marketing is done by promotion companies, record labels, managements etc. They will help you if they think they can make money on your music, so there we are back to square one. I used to be a part owner of a small label. Before downloading hit hard we could sell perhaps 4 000 -5 000 units. Enough for the artist to survive on. Now that is not possible anymore. Small labels really struggle these days. How many of you guys log in to myspace to listen to unreleased stuff these days? RIght, not one of you. It's just a hazzle. You still need someone to find the talent, help the artist refine it's product and then to release and market it. -
Another LONG rant about people not paying for music
Disturber replied to MCChris's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
That's the thing. The author points out that the internet isn't free. It costs money to connect to and use the internet. People are all too happy to pay those fees, which invariably go to huge corporations. That has been my take on this debate all along. Many of these companies are way more dirty and publicly shy than the music companies ever were. And they don't re-invest in new (music) talent at all, they just pocket the money for their stock holders or owners. Here in Sweden the phone line and broadband owners have done nothing to stop the access to companies like Piratebay, dc++ and similar sources for illegal downloading. They have claimed that they have no responsibility to what is distributed through their wires. Well of course, as the people downloading are prepared to pay for higher broadband speeds etc. It's more money right down in their pockets. BUT, now the mobile phone users, and broadband users, are using free phone services more and more, like Skype etc. Then suddenly a few months ago these same operators were ready to close the access to these services as it takes away income from them when less people are using their phones for ordinary calls. So as soon as their customers behaviors change to affect their income they want to put a ban on certain sites and services. But when it affects the income for other companies, and increases their own income then "they are on the users side". Now do I hear the word "Cynical behavior"! I think they have been forced to ban certain sites in the UK now, such as piratebay (I’m not 100% sure on this). And I hope we'll see it coming more in Europe and the US. The internet is good for many things, but it's not all good. -

I've been saying just about the same thing as he's saying since 2005. I've seen friends loose income and their jobs, I've personaly lost income and my job etc. due to downloading. I tell the students about this when I lecture at the Royal university of Music here in Sweden. I love this line: "Congratulations, your generation is the first generation in history to rebel by unsticking it to the man and instead sticking it to the weirdo freak musicians!" -

Best festival lineup ever?
Disturber replied to kevinbower1959's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
No I am not wrong. Here are the recent articles, in Swedish: They have paid one million. A figure they decided they were comfortable with, not nearly the amount they are bound to pay: http://www.sydsvensk...-i-stim-pengar/ Here is their open letter to Stim form last week, full of wrong accusations and plain fact errors: http://www.aftonblad...icle14874821.ab Here is Stims open reply setting all the facts straight: http://www.musikindu...weden_Rock.html Here is the open letter to Sweden Rock signed by many Swedish musicians and bands - from Dark Funeral among others, I think you gigged with them, they'll tell you the truth about this situation. http://mobil.aftonbl....ab?partner=www And more here: http://www.aftonblad...icle14890658.ab Other info on this problem from last year: http://www.stimblogg...-rock-kvarstar/ Use Google translet to read it in english. It's a festival with great bands. It's just run by greedy people who likes to set their own rules and don't care about laws and regulations regarding copyright issues etc. I know many who has visited this festival for years that will bojcott this year because of this. If they paid you Kevin then I am happy for you. It's just that not everyone gets paid. -
Best festival lineup ever?
Disturber replied to kevinbower1959's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
That is a shite festival run by gangsters unfortunately. They pay the bands according to the negotiated contracts but they have for years refused to pay the performance money to the songwriters - to the Swedish writers association STIM, (who is working close with PRS in the UK - they even have a company together called ICE who takes care of all copyright registrations. http://www.stim.se/e...ht-Enterprise-/ ). This festival makes a HUGE profit. Way better than any other festival here, and then we are talking big festivals run by Live Nation and other big players. Yet ALL the other promoters and concert arrangers pay their performance money without complaining. But the guys who run Sweden rock bag millions every year in their own pockets and they have done everything they can trying to miscredit STIM. They have tried to take them to court etc. And last week they wrote a letter full of lies and misinterpretations in one of our largets newspapers accusing STIM for a lot of un true facts. A lot of major Swedish writers wrote an open letter back to them, backing STIM and their fellow foreign writers who comes to play this festival every year, apparently knowing nothing about the fact that they don't get paid as writers for performing there. STIM also wrote an open reply setting the facts straight, making these festival arrangers looking pretty sinister and greedy. The festival tickets are also bloody expensive, considering the huge profit these guys make. They could cut the price in half and still make a decent profit. If you have contact with other bands playing this festival please let them, and their managments, know about this fact. Perhaps if the performing acts know about this fact they can actually together start putting some demands on these guys to do right by themselves. They are nothing buy thieves. -
Congrats! Love the checkerd finish. That one looks classic!

HFC Trade Gone Bad
Disturber replied to savethematches's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
This place can be a great help when deals go bad. I once got scammed by a fellow in Florida on two vintage Dimarzio pups. As I'm in Europe I couldn't exactly go over and whack him on the head. But the fine folks here on the HFC helped me track down the music store where he worked, took some detective time and I'm very grateful to those who helped out. I contacted his boss man and told him one of his employees was a hustler. Two weeks later the pups arrived in my mail box. So, see if you can find out where he works and try this, it might work.... -
You can use the V as a crotch. Just slide it under you arm pit facing down. Vectors are very versatile.

Go Super Pro- that is a totally different beast with its semi hollowness and the longer scale. I love mine. I love the Newport too. Can't go wrong with either. Both are quite unique in there designs, not with run of the mill standard features.

What are those small combos? Are they the new one watter Ltd series?
