  1. I don't dislike this type of music but I prefered the likes of Matchbox 20 and Rob Thomas when they were around. They had much better songs although the style is some what similar. This guys music does nothing to me but I prefer that the chics listen to stuff like this rather than Idol artists and other pro-tools Antares crap. At least it seems like he can play and sing pretty good, compared to a lot of other douche bags out there.
  2. Personally I've taken all of this as a great and funny publicity stunt. David Bowie did it in the early 70s and it's been done loads of time after that. Shocking the media with: 1) Your strange personal sex preferensese - that you cut both ways, are gay, or just plain weird, always gives great media attention. or: 2) Talk about satan, religion, jesus etc in a negative way (negative for those who is religious that is), always gives great media attention. Just two ways of getting WW coverage of you as an artist. (Just look at Marilyn Manson on the religious part). When it comes to Prince all I know is that he has written some of the greatest, dirtiest and meanest lyrics about sex ever written. Not just one song but too many to mention. He's just got a great dirty mouth, and I love it, ha ha. He also had the pleassure of dating, and probably had sex with, more beautiful women than most other men. I have never heard anything about him having dated another man, so I am pretty confident he is a 100% straight guy. With a Very Dirty Mind (pun intended). All I can say to the guy is: a) I wish I had 10% of your talent as a musician and performer and songwriter. b ) I wish I had 10% of all the sexy women you have dated. That would make me a totally happy guy Over and out!
  3. Is that really of any importance in the 21st century? Let every man & woman be what ever they want to be. It's a free society. Love for every one.
  4. I never really gave him much attention, but this thread started something. Great music. I'll put it on this weeks "listening at work chart". THANKS.
  5. Cool. I don't think the first albums are that easy to find. They seem out of print. He will be playing with Govt Mule in Jamaica it seems.
  6. So I read last weeks Premier Guitar and found a long article about this guy called Anders Osbourne. Never heard of him, but it turns out he's a Swede that lived in New Orleans for some + 20 years. I don't know what it is about New Orleans that makes Swedes create such great music - we got Theresa Andersson there as well (seems they've been living together too)- but it seems it's a mix made in heaven. Turns out this guy has been travelling around the globe busking on the streets before settling in New Orleans. He's released albums since 1995. http://www.allmusic....ne-mn0000026276 Great bluesy, rootsy stuff. And he's got a great guitar style as well. I will order some of his CDs from Amazon soon. In the meantime I have been digging him on Youtube for a week. Check him out: I love the Van Morrison-esque, Tom Waits-ish feeling of this tune. Beautiful songwriting, it goes directly for the heart. http://www.myspace.c...dersosbornenola http://www.andersosborne.com/
  7. This thread ain't good for nuthin' unless we put some music in it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nif5KqqgudY&feature=watch_response Takin' the piss out of Radiohead, or being serious? Either way I like it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97IcMvkyw-Y I have not heard the rest of the album. But I'll check it out asap. I love their two earlier albums. The Darkness RAWKS.
  8. That one is really cool. You just couldn't live the the Kahler, huh?
  9. YIKES! That is just insane. From a seller who does not reply to questions. And no serial no. And no case. I thought around the four hundred mark was perhaps fair, after all the pups and hard ware has some value of it's own. After that one is fixed it will have cost the buyer what he could get a nice un-damaged 70's Sunburst for. With a case, and with a legit serial number. The stoopidity of ebay never seases to amaze me.
  10. He does not answer my emails and the headstock does not have a serial number. I say beware, it smells fishy.
  11. Sorry, they played something...? I was just busy looking two girls with things that looked like it's from the Alien movies strapped between their legs. That WAS weird, indeed. Kinda kinky too.
  12. I just saw the LEMMY movie last night so it's been a Kilmister binge all day. Motörhead and I go back together until around 1981-1982 when I was twelve and first heard them. My parents did not allow me to go and see them live then, but I have seen them at least a dozen times through out the years. Great band. Had it's ups and downs. My fav record is Another perfect day, a bit un orthodox perhaps, (and Ace of Spades of course).
  13. So Jon Lord went away to see the gods of Valhalla. He made some classic riffs on that organ for sure. I was never a big fan of his classicaly influenced style. But a lot the stuff on the early Gillan Purple stuff was good, Machine Head and such. I started to think of good Hammond, organ and keyboard players that I like. Preferably Hammond players on the list, but other types will do. Here is my top 5 list, really in no particular order: Booker T. Bernie Worrell (clearly the greatest, and the biggest genious of them all!) Billy Preston. Ian McLagan (absolutely on of my favs). Edgar Winter Who's on your list?
  14. Don't know who the guy is. But I don't even care to listen. The Queen is long dead. Let her rest.
  15. I have been a big Mellencamp fan since the 80's. First time I saw him was the Lonesome Jubilee tour. I wonder if Mike Wanchic played Hamers then, can't remember. He had Kenny Aronoff whos such a monster drummer. And Lisa Germano on violin. I've hard so much about Springsteen shows where Bruce tears the roof down sending the audience home exstatic. Well every Mellencamp gig I've seen has been like that +1. Just a great artist and songwriter who know how to pic great musicians to back him up.
  16. Yeah, maybe not stoner... got a little carried away. I heard them today and decided I got check them out live in August. They sound retro.
  17. Ouch, this turned in to a long thread that kinda slid of the rails. Although I enjoy your witty post Polara, always good to read your wise words. And Zen too. I think Corgan puts the finger on someting in this interview here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AeDRsdGz_E Plus 2 minutes in to the vid. Okay, I need to go and see a man about a kebab. See ya´ later
  18. This is a great band from the south of Sweden. Check it out:
  19. Yes. You all have a point. But the point they were trying to make is why is it okay to pay so much to the internet providers but not to the musicians? Like the article said: "...your generation is the first generation in history to rebel by unsticking it to the man and instead sticking it to the weirdo freak musicians!" Why is it okay to think that musicians and people in the entertainment biz should be happy with less income, but no one thinks twice about criticising the greedy cable providers, phone companies and hard ware manufacturers etc? F.u.c.k. them I say. They have lousy support and usually sell pretty bad products at high prices. We, the users, have to beta test products released on the market way before they are really ready to be launched, still full of bugs etc. Why is that okay? Just saying...
  20. That was quite a bullshit article. Yes, it's easy to say: "...make good music and sell it yourself " Sure, but who will buy. To sell something, anything, you need to market it. Marketing is done by promotion companies, record labels, managements etc. They will help you if they think they can make money on your music, so there we are back to square one. I used to be a part owner of a small label. Before downloading hit hard we could sell perhaps 4 000 -5 000 units. Enough for the artist to survive on. Now that is not possible anymore. Small labels really struggle these days. How many of you guys log in to myspace to listen to unreleased stuff these days? RIght, not one of you. It's just a hazzle. You still need someone to find the talent, help the artist refine it's product and then to release and market it.
  21. That's the thing. The author points out that the internet isn't free. It costs money to connect to and use the internet. People are all too happy to pay those fees, which invariably go to huge corporations. That has been my take on this debate all along. Many of these companies are way more dirty and publicly shy than the music companies ever were. And they don't re-invest in new (music) talent at all, they just pocket the money for their stock holders or owners. Here in Sweden the phone line and broadband owners have done nothing to stop the access to companies like Piratebay, dc++ and similar sources for illegal downloading. They have claimed that they have no responsibility to what is distributed through their wires. Well of course, as the people downloading are prepared to pay for higher broadband speeds etc. It's more money right down in their pockets. BUT, now the mobile phone users, and broadband users, are using free phone services more and more, like Skype etc. Then suddenly a few months ago these same operators were ready to close the access to these services as it takes away income from them when less people are using their phones for ordinary calls. So as soon as their customers behaviors change to affect their income they want to put a ban on certain sites and services. But when it affects the income for other companies, and increases their own income then "they are on the users side". Now do I hear the word "Cynical behavior"! I think they have been forced to ban certain sites in the UK now, such as piratebay (I’m not 100% sure on this). And I hope we'll see it coming more in Europe and the US. The internet is good for many things, but it's not all good.
  22. I've been saying just about the same thing as he's saying since 2005. I've seen friends loose income and their jobs, I've personaly lost income and my job etc. due to downloading. I tell the students about this when I lecture at the Royal university of Music here in Sweden. I love this line: "Congratulations, your generation is the first generation in history to rebel by unsticking it to the man and instead sticking it to the weirdo freak musicians!"
  23. That guitar needs me. I can feel it. You need to make it happy.
  24. This is my 70 bucks P-bass. It's an early 80s Yamaha bs400. Maple neck & mahogany body. It's just PERFECT. (Did I say it cost me 70 bucks ).
