Monaco Elite Output Jack Problem
Disturber replied to JLester's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Is it a Switchcraft jack. Hamer used them in the 90's in to the 00's. I don't know when the changed brands. But the switchcraft is part number 151. It went bad on my Korina Standard and I mailed Kim Keller, Hamers customer rep. He said: "The jack is considered a 'wear' item and is not covered under the warranty." I just bought a new jack for like 20 bucks and swapped it for the one with bad connection. Edit: This is the Switchcraft jack Hamer used: http://www.switchcraft.com/productsummary.aspx?Parent=884 -
These have been for sale before. They have come down in price. Both awesome looking. Go get them: Monaco Elite in Sweden (let me know if you need help, if you want to buy it): http://www.vend.se/ad.php?196090 Monaco Super Pro in Spain. This one is killer: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Hamer-Monaco-SuperPro-USA-del-2007-Gibson-Les-Paul-Style-/251371846303?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_186&hash=item3a86edfa9f

Whats the Best Tele style bridge? any why?
Disturber replied to bruce919's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
A traditional old school tele bridge will probably sound a tittle thinner than a more modern one. At least that is my experience with the old teles I have compared to my T-51. If you are a traditional country picker, (not modern country), then go for the traditional bridge. If you more into rock and more modern country etc. either bridge will do fine. Here is an old Fender tele and my T-51. I like the T-51 better, both for playability and tone. And, it has one more fret. It's like it's going to 11. The T-51 has the same spank and twang, but more bottom and sustain to the tone. It's way louder. I think it's because of the more modern Wilkinson bridge with the saddles locked down. Just one of the greatest teles I've played period. -

I really like the Wilkinson bridge that is on the Hamer T-51's. Very functional, sounds great, and the saddles are locked down with an allen screw which gives great coupling and sustain. However, I don't think they make that specific model any more.... -
Any harmonica players here. What should a newbie get?
Disturber posted a question in Ask the HFC Experts
Like the topic says.... I'd like to try learining the harmonica. Mainly thinking the classic blues style. I'm a total newbie here. What is the Hamer brand of harminicas? How many harmonicas does one normally need, how many keys? What are good keys to start with? -
FOUND: Monaco III
Disturber replied to Feynman's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
Sounds like you are back in the game. A very big Congrats from me. I sincerely say that I hope you'll find it even better than your last one! May it be the holy grail of good tone. The way you describe it as "beat up" gives me the notion that it's been played a lot, because it's one hell of a guitar. -
This is one great thread!

Right now my Korina Standard from 1995 and my natural 4-digit Standard. They just scream through the Marshall, with the band. Not a bad sound in them. Great necks too. They cover most stuff, and both got the magic tone. Turn the vol knob down - they caress so sweet. Turn it up to full throttle - sounds like yo mama getting banged, just screams. Never any need to ever fiddle with the amp Controls, they just sound awesome.

Discussion - Worst Sounding Amp You've Ever Owned...
Disturber replied to coolfeel's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
This, a Roland GA50. It sounded terrible. At least for a kid who was expecting a 100W Marshall, but could only afford a solid state Roland I put a Celestion in it, and bought a BOSS HM2 pedal. I was expecting Eddie Van Halen to come out of the amp. Dissapointed!! Then I switched to bass for a while, until I could afford my first Hamer and a real tube amp. -
Pedals: How many ODs or: Am I overdoing it?
Disturber replied to Montelovesco's question in Ask the HFC Experts
I use a Fulldrive 1 that I step on for solos. And a Fulltone Catalyst for when I need fuzz. Other than that it's all natural Marshall tube gain. What more do you need...? -
I actually like the original version. It sounds very 90s. And very In your face, no gloves, all knuckles. Its mean!!! Like when they remastered NINs The Downward Spiral, just lost that 90 s raw digital sound, didnt sound right. That said. Ill probably pick this up anyways.

Funny thing about Nada Surfs albums, for me. When I bought the two, three recent ones I played them once or twice and thought; well, this album wasn't as good as the last one. Then I listen to the album four, five times and the BAM it's greatness just evolves. Songstructures, lyrics, hooks etc. Everything so beautifully crafted. One of my favourite bands for sure. Keep a look out for the MINOR ALPS album in November. Juliana Hatfield and Matthew Caws from Nada Surf have this project together. First single sounds interesting. Very lo fi. -
Toots & the Maytals. Good stuff indeed. Izzy was great because he took influences from so much more than just rock & metal. That's what makes it something more than the ordinary. Just look at the Stones. Slash is great in a great band like GnR. He was mostly great with Velvet Revolver. Personally I think most of his solo stuff feels like a bad cover band, with Slash as some kind of magic guest. Myles Kennedy might technically be a great singer but his personality is less than zero. It's like when INXS got that JD Fortune guy, just does not feel like a major label artist. I mean, look at that video clip. Those guys just don't feel mean, dangerous and that they live and breath RnRoll. They look like four guys who woke up this morning and got to play with their biggest idol. Slash points the finger, they do what they are told. Probably gets a pay check every month from his magement and gets told to show up on time, or else....

Just remembered.. This is a band I was helping out back in 1995. They were absolutely great. We worked so hard on this album, and it just didn't do well. They did a long tour to promote it, then broke up. Here is one of the singles: -

Another band that should have been HUGE. http://www.allmusic.com/artist/the-blessing-mn0000050496/biography The Blessing. Did two albums on Mercury. Prince of the Deep Waters and Locusts and wild honey. This was their biggest hit: William Topley the lead singer has done lots of solo albums since the band broke up that are in the same style. I got all of them. Just great music. -

What a great thread. And I think I have missed it..??!! Hanoi Rocks - They should have been huge. The greatest glam band of the 80's. A - Killer band with a stupid name. Try to google or Youtube search the letter "A". A mix of The Police and Bloodhound gang. Weird, yeah. But it works. Rocket from the Crypt - I love the Hives, but this band was one of their inspirations, and they are even better. Should have been as big as The Hives. Young Heart Attack - Killer debut album. Party on the rocks, all the way. AC/DC meets Pat Benattar, then they take party drugs. -
Never seen a Centaura with this custom graphic finish before. COOL! Centauras are my favourite floyded Hamer model. Extremely comfortable to play. Light and the sound awesome.

He sent me a fish??!! -
They did two gigs here in Sweden this summer. Apparently it was a lot of fire, flying steel snakes and what have you not. But the band sucked. Pauls voice was terrible on these gigs too, so I guess his voice is forever gone.... This is what Meja says about it all: FIXED IT

Carvin Guitars--what's the REAL story?
Disturber replied to Thundersteel's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I haven't played a Carvin since the late 80's, (yeah I am THAT old). Back then they were really ugly designs, they kinda wanted to be cool metal guitars - but they looked just the opposite. And, as Serial says, they sounded like crap and they felt cheap. As I understand the quality has been improved and they have moved towards more traditional designs. Still, a brand I consider as unsexy as say Ibanez (or PRS even if they most certainly are very good guitars). They have extremely ugly headstocks too. Just not for me. -
Favorite bands you'd never admit to

To many to even mention. But I won't lie about it either. A good song is a good song, period.
