  1. THIS^^^^ Exactly what I thought of as well!
  2. I teach beginning guitar and these would come in handy. I could use the neon strings and maybe some pics and other strings if possible.
  3. Have to add a few more! Gwen Stefani old Madonna Stevie Nicks Kate Pierson Cindy Wilson Adele Lisa Loeb...man just too many out there!
  4. Liz Phair Alanis Morrisette Christina Aguilera Marie Fredriksson -Roxette Annie Lenox Laurie Freelove Sarah Blackwood Kate Bush Susanna Hoffs Tanya Donnelley Martina McBride Deborah Harry Ann & Nancy Wilson Pat Benatar Linda Rondstat Paula Cole
  5. Well, I got the motor turning just fine, replaced the belt so all that works fine, topped off the oil, tested the one 7199 tube and it tested good, but still just have faint echos. BUT, it has the coolest tube preamp sound in front of my Zinky MoFo! I'm wondering since it is so old - 40 years or so - if caps would need replacing to get it up to speed. Everything else look like the day it was made...nothing appears to be tampered with. What do some of you think? It's all point to point construction and I saw yellow tube caps in there...maybe they need replacing. I'm a pretty handy guy (especially when I've been drinking! ba-dum-bump) but how do you test caps?
  6. Totally cool. I like old stuff. In another thread I talked of getting this old Tel-ray oil can delay. Now, I want to get a RECORDING sign that lights up that was from a studio nearby where Elvis recorded a little. I saw the pics and everything...pretty cool old stuff.
  7. I ,liked the 2nd vid much better.
  8. It's not heavy at all. It's well built and sounds cool. Even without the thing spinning I still get a nice reverbish with distinct delays. They're not clean digital delays ...more echoplexy (?? I never played one!). It's warm and kin of spongy...makes playing fun. I know it would sound even more alive with a top-off of the special fluid and getting the little (1.5" square) motor spinning! There's just something cool about interacting with a 40 something year old device. They also did a big pedal version when they were named Morley.
  9. I just got one of these today... http://www.oocities.org/tel_ray/home.html A model 1001 like the 2nd big picture down with 3 knobs across. Tel-Ray also made the similar versions by Fender, Gretsch, Gibson, Rickenbacker etc. That page also explains how the oil can type works. Mine is in great shape except I have to work on getting the little motor working to make the inside thingy spin. It sound good as it is but I can tell from You Tube vids that this can do so much more. Anyone, have one of these or know about them? Tel-Ray later turned into Morley with the same owners.
  10. Thanks to all involved with the change. I like it better than the old board except one thing...it seems too bright for me (that's a lot of white)!!
  11. I use a Godlyke Power-all (and 2 daisy chains)...which might be very similar to the one spot? It's worked fine for the past few years.
  12. oNE OF OUR FAVORITE TRIPS WE'VE EVER TAKEN...damn caps!! Enjoy it!!!
  13. My name comes from the TV show Seinfeld (I probably don't have to say this to most of you...). It was an episode where George's dad was trying to calm down so he was told to say Serenity Now to take it down a few RPM's ...well he quickly would change from trying to be calm while saying it to who he apparently naturally was, a wound up kind of guy, by yelling it at the top of his lungs; SERENITY NOW, SERENITY NOW!! Anyway, I could relate to trying to strive for serenity but only being too human to find it consistently. I was "ZR" before a long while back and that was based on me starting on msg boards back before 14,400k (yes K) dial-up modems were the super fast ones on the block! I started on motorcycle boards and I had a Kawi ZR 750 Zephyr...now I have a Ducati Monster...which I just bent both rims on yesterday!! : (
  14. I saw Doug Aldrich playing with Dio (RIP) and he rocked it that night! Doug should be a good fit.
  15. My fav is Slide It In. I saw them on tour with John Sykes and they really rocked. Saw Dio that night as well with one of my fav guitarist Vivian Campbell.
  16. Very cool stuff indeed! I'll try to tune in. Man, that's BS about the kids parents and their lame excuses!
  17. Very inspired and cool. That must have been a lot of work!
  18. Yeah, my wife and daughter's like DT...OK probably not in the same way I do, but they really liked A Change of Seasons and Scenes from a Memory a lot. In their case I'd say I'm not sure they'd notice a drummer change but they aren't your typical DT fan. DT will get some awesome drummer and they'll continue on. I haven't been as much of a fanboy of theirs since Awake and Images and Words (even Falling into Infinity -my 1st CD of theirs- and Scenes)...they seem somewhat boring to me now. I just couldn't get into their latest stuff. Nevertheless I still have the utmost respect for all of them - great musicians all. IMHO, (in a drummers sense Not team leader etc.) Dt losing Mike is not the same as Rush losing Peart. I can picture other drummers playing DT music but can't picture Rush w/o Peart.
  19. I love Dream Theater but their older stuff is much better. I wish them all luck in the future but it did sound a little sactimonious and I don't even know the actual definition of that word!! ; ) ...but I just came back from the Irish pub and helped drink 4 pitchers! ; )
  20. Here's my take, YMMV. To me, if the oil has the proper high rating (that little circular label with numbers in it) then I'm OK with it. I do use more expensive Mobil 1 100% synthetic in my motorcycle but the oil in a bike does double duty in engine and transmission/clutch. In principle, I'd like to believe that spending more money on name brand oil is getting me a better product but I just don't know. I always ask myself just how many cars did I have to get rid of, or blew up on me because I didn't use just the right oil or change my oil in exactly every 3000 miles? It's usually other things; transmission, electronics etc. that become such a problem that forces someone to want to get rid of their car. I usually run Mobil 1 through a car / truck a few times, or even every now and then, then back to regular cheaper stuff. They say that doing that gets you a lot of the advantages of the 100% synthetic w/o the extra expense doing it every oil change, because even as the oil is drained a lot of the synthetic lubricant film stays behind coated on your engine parts. As usual, if you look on the net you'll find a million arguments for every side. You just need to find what you feel comfortable with and go with it.
  21. I'm not into graphics much but I do like how transluscent looking your snakeskin looks! I agree with you on most your points but your guitar is actually a setneck variety not neck-thru. The neck stops near the neck pickup, it does not continue through all the pickups. The knob/switch placement seems normal to me for a 25.5" scale Chap. I can't see from the picks clearly but I think your FR is not routed for high pitch pulls like most are. I wonder if that was to accomadate the graphic finish? Obviously, the finish is what puts it over the top. Nice one!
