  1. SAHB is great! The Fish version of Faith Healer beats the Helloween version, and Helloween was the one I expected to be better.
  2. That was a lively way to start the morning!
  3. Wurzel was in Motorhead the first time I saw them. He was having a good time up on stage, and he was entertaining to watch.
  4. The eBand looked cool when it was announced, but I already had the Boss Micro BR. The Boss gadgets have been very helpful when learning songs.
  5. Tell you what. Buy a ticket for me today and if it wins I will pay you back so we can split the money.
  6. Just going with generalities here are some thoughts. Paul Reed Smith got it right over 25 years ago. The Les Paul is simple and beautiful. The Explorer and its Hamer equivalent have a timeless appeal.
  7. The Koffin Kats -- Drunk In The Daylight & Inhumane (bought together at a show) Hell -- Human Remains Uriah Heep -- Into The Wild Nazareth -- Big Dogz Jeff Berlin -- High Standards
  8. Is that a hair under the finish?
  9. You do realize that every time you pull out that Californian you are going to get a request for a . You did think this through, did you not?
  10. Can anyone in Charlotte buy Cinderella tickets AT The Fillmore for the July 26th show? Tickets are $25 each and Ticketbastard wants an additional $10.25 per ticket. If the venue is selling tickets at face value I would rather buy someone a CD than pay a 40% premium for tickets.
  11. Really? I thought it had something to do with all the Alice Cooper references in your posts.
  12. I have been listening to the Jim Hall tune, but I keep getting lost in the whole performance-- piano, drums, bass, and the guitar. You were right that guitar part has that perfect ES-175 clean tone.
  13. Here is a Sweet song that goes astray from the pop image. If You Don't Go Down On Me ...Someone Else Will The live version of the lyrics was "If you don't fuck you then someone else will." There is a video on youtube with this track, but all the images are of the 9/11 attack instead of The Sweet. Listen if you will. The imagery is all wrong.
  14. Two versions of the band exist, or claim the name. Steve Priest lives in Los Angeles and does shows as The Sweet. It all depends on where you live as to which band you will see using the name. I have a live album with all the cool songs. They could be heavy when they wanted to be heavy.
  15. Tuck and Patti did Time After Time in concert and got the audience to sing in harmony.
  16. I think Kim Keller told me Mike Shishkov made an archtop for himself in his spare time. For what archtops cost and the number of small shop custom builders out there it would seem like Hamer would not need to introduce an archtop to their line. The cost would be high and no one thinks of Hamer when they start looking for archtops. Sadly, the line is still tied to the 80's shredders in the minds of people who have not kept up with the company's output. If Hamer did make archtops they would be killer!
  17. Alice Cooper's version of Hello Hooray sounds nothing like the original version by Judy Collins.
  18. As soon as the new album is out I am going to buy it!
  19. When the project is done .
  20. You country pickers are mighty particular about your amps.
  21. Whoa! When does the tour start?
  22. OK, on a scale of Justin Bieber to Rush, where do you guys place the White Stripes?
  23. Oh heck-- just get Stike to do a metal flake flame paint job! Natural or an iced tea burst would look good. Cherry would look like one of those rare Gibson custom orders or refins.
  24. KISS came up with a decent album when they did Sonic Boom. AC/DC sounded like a fresh new band on Black Ice. If both of those bands can pull off creating something that is not too predictable or rehashed sounding, Van Halen might pull it off, too. The real key to doing it is having your album available exclusively through Wal-Mart.
  25. Last night I saw Robert Plant and Band of Joy in Asheville, NC. The opening act was The North Mississippi All Stars. The ticket was expensive (what else is new?), but the show was in a great theater type of venue. No seats were too far away to see a good show. The North Mississippi All Stars were just a two piece-- guitar and drums. The bass player was not there. It was still an amazing show that they did. I had heard of these guys, but never heard them. Now I need to buy an album. They played 40 minutes. Robert Plant and Band of Joy came on at about 9:10. The band's set list has not popped up on the Internet yet, but it featured at least half of the new album. The band is the same group that recorded the album: Buddy Miller, Byron House, Marco Giovino, Darrell Scott, and Patty Griffin. One song was from the album Plant did with Alison Krauss, Please Read The Letter. There were some cool versions of Led Zeppelin tunes like Tangerine and Houses Of The Holy plus a few more. The show was over about 10:50. Buddy Miller was playing a lot of odd looking guitars that looked like old Kay and Univox type instruments-- cheap guitars. There were a couple of Danelectros used. Then Miller and Scott both had Gretsch guitars at different times during the show. Miller played through Swart amps with a tape echo unit sitting on top. Robert Plant came across as a nice guy, which he always has, but he reminded me of the way Paul Stanley acted when he did his solo tour-- no rock star on stage. There were songs sung by different band members with Plant standing at the back just doing backup vocals or playing harmonica. He never appeared to be the star of the show. The Band of Joy was the star, and Robert Plant was just one part of it. When the band took a bow at the end of the show (pre encore) some guy jumped on stage and joined the line while someone took pictures. Then he stepped up beside Plant... Plant just posed for a picture with the guy. Security was slow in getting out there on stage, and by the time anyone was out there the guy was back in the audience.
