  1. Bumpage for the 80's. Hamers Heavy Metal Years and no one is interested. Hmmm no Calis for you guys. Zorrow, I'm kinda shocked to see you past on the bound Vector. Hamerica
  2. I have seen Eric a couple of times and yes he is all of that and a bag of chips. There are only two others I would put in his class: one other unassuming guitar god - Andy Timmons and the anti- guitar god - Rick Nielsen. Nice guitar. Hangman, forget retirement, buy this and let me play it! Hamerica
  3. Overall quality build and consistency would be the current Hamer Standard line up. Fit and finish does not vary from guitar to guitar. There is a difference between the new Standards versus the four digit variety. I have owned as many of the four digits as I have the new standards. I have had several of the Korina limited run standards. The "best" made is the one that speaks to you. I'm with Serial. I prefer the "old" ones and the tone of the old Dimarizos. With that said, I have a Korina Standard from the limited run that if I put someone blindfolded and had them A/B with a couple of four digits to keep it fair, I am sure they would have a hard time picking out which is which without feeling the guitar overall. Personally I love them all. There are other older posts of similar vein and I recommend checking those out. Hamerica
  4. Racer X, Now that is a really, really cool score! I wonder how far off in serial numbers the Pete Farndon bass was from this one. I had never noticed the bass in the Pretenders photo until you shot the pictures of this one. Very, very cool. Hamerica
  5. The Greatest Influence for me has to be Rick Nielsen. Closely followed by - The Rev. Billy F. Gibbons Andy Timmons Buddy Whittington Then there is the HFC Crowd - INPO Paults (still waiting for the lunchbox to come out) Nightwolf - RIP BCR Greg Steve "By God" Clay Hangman Butcher Butchers Shoes - Maybe Butchers shoes should be first Stonge Kim Keller Jack Butler Paults gets a second nod since he can reverse the chords on a lefty and sang Green Acres. Alpep for reminding me we are all doomed The Queen - much love there Sue for putting up with Al The guys that put on the jams - Phoenix, Bruce, MC Chris, The Cajuns and I am sure I am missing some and let's not forget -YOU! Hamerica
  6. I appreciate the roll call. I asked about the Zandards and got all three.. I'm not good at posting pics but I do have a some. 25th Anniversary Guitars - 1 of 13 of the Black ones. (available send pm) 25th Limited Editions - #008 (available send pm) and #009 30th Limited Editions - #009 Redwood Limited Editions - #009 Thanks to Sir Dan for the post. Where are the rest? Greatness!!! Hamerica
  7. Hey Bob, No problem. Have a great new year. Hamerica
  8. That's IT! THAT'S THE ONE! I think it'd look good with a reverse Explorer/Standard headstock as well, maybe give it a Standard Custom treatment (Cherry Sunburst flame maple top, binding, fancy inlays) also. Hell, do both a plain Mahogany and a Custom treatment one! Whomever can find the Smilie where he is beating his head against the wall, if they will kindly place that on this post and just mention the word "Thunderbolt", and do so about a dozen times, it will appropriately represent the number of times I have asked Hamer to build this guitar for me. There have been other HFC'rs request the same and the end results have been the same. One or two HFC'rs have had thunderbolts custom made but I don't recall who did them and maybe they will be kind enough to PM you with he information. I was having a really good year up until I read this post. I am sure that more than one dealer has asked Hamer to do a run of ten and it has been declined. Crunchee, good luck on your quest. As far as an HFC or any other limited run, I really liked the Zandards. A match set would be nice. Oh I don't know say something like Vee and a Standard in Dark burst with an L5 fingerboard and boomers? Triple Pickups might be nice. Five or seven ply binding. As long as were dreaming, I would like for it to be something that speaks to Hamers Heritage. I thought it was a real shame that Judas Priest had a set from Gibson and not Hamer. There are some great examples of things that were cool but done just once. In some cases, I think that should be that way. Its always nice too dream and sometimes its great that dreams come true. 9. Man, I'm having trouble with the one rule too. How about "1/2"? Kinda a spin of Racer X's post - "1/2" of Rick Nielsen's I would even include those off brands off F & G guitars he has. "1/2" of Hamstds "1/2" of Stonges "1/2" of Batmans "1/2" of Robin Zanders "Ninjas"!?!?!?!?!? - Time to update the security system. Best wishes, Hamerica
  10. J Wood, Some really good suggestions here, it would be a hard choice. I would forget the Alamo Amps. They are pieces of crap and I have several different models to confirm this! Mirriorimij should not be allowed on the board. Just boat anchors, all vintage Alamo amps should be shipped to Casa de Hamerica for proper disposal. Especially, the Embassy models with the kitchen door handle models. The Rev Billy G used some in the early days and what does he know about Tone? The same goes for Hard Hearted Bill. Damn, old tweed Gibson GA's are worthless especially original, unmolested examples. I especially recommend staying away from the GA-20T. Just worthless, all GA-20T Tweeds should be shipped to Casa de Hamerica. Hell, I'll even be nice and pick up the shipping costs. AVOID THOSE AMPS AT ALL COSTS. On the Music Man. I personally have never played through one but several people I respect have either owned one or played through them. Good luck on your search! Hamerica (Note - The first two full paragraphs are parodies. Hamerica has great respect for Mirriorimji and HHB's recommendations.)
  11. Happy Birthday Guys! Hamerica
  12. Hey Batman! Thanks for the note. Glad you love the standard. Hey Butcher, Thanks, for the pics. You ought to setup a whole album. Just awesome man, just awesome. Hamerica
  13. David, Ask and ye shall receive. Prayers, wishes and thoughts heading your way. Hamerica
  14. There are a couple of HFC'ers that are noted road warriors. I have always considered myself one. I have been to many a state and whenever possible tried to make a fellow HFCer's open house, party or whatever. I pass on my merit badge to Butcher. Totally got a surprise on Tuesday when my cell phone was ringing a PA number and I couldn't figure out who it was. Finally, they called again and it was Butcher on a motorcycle heading to the west coast. Now were talkin' driving a motorcyle across country - and back. Anyways it was a great surprise. Guitar Greg came by and showed off his newest acquistion (Hamer Miller Guitar) and his Green Duotone that he got from Serial Steve. He jammed. Butcher had drove so much he decided to stay and xtra day and take some time off his driving hands and put his plucking fingers on maple, rosewood, ebony and other fine woods from our good friends at Hamer. After several hours of watching Butcher play, I am always amazed at his ability to bring out chords and notes that inspire. It is always a pleasure to have some of the HFC finest to drop in but it is a real pleasure to be able to do this on such short noticed with the MAN! (Wardrobe Alert!!!!!) Butcher is in Leather!!! No flowerey, beer multicolored shirts or shoes....Black Leather! Butcher, thanks for stopping by. It is always a pleasure. C'ya, Hamerica
  15. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Congrats on the score. That is just totally amazing. Hamerica
  16. Happy Belated Birthday. Badger has great taste in guitars. Hamerica
  17. Great Pic! A young'un and a vintage guitar. Modern Vintage. I think I'll coin that. Nah! Very cool both are defintely a keeper. Hamerica
  18. Yeah, but I wish they'd do one on something other than a Studio platform. +1 on Hamer doing another limited run on someting other than the Studio platform. You can add the 25th limited to those on MC Chris list. I would really like to see something updated. Hamerica
  19. I agree with almost everything said here. The economy. The lack of quality dealers selling items that are above suspect. The sharks trolling. Price Gouging. Ebay, TGP, Craigslist, Some vintage gear has already seen a slight decline. I expect the trend to continue with a few exceptions. Hamerica
  20. Its been awhile but I think it was Clapton, BB King, Buddy Guy and John Mayer on stage at the time with Jimmy Vaughn and band as the band. They were playing and Buddy gets up to play his solos while BB and Clapton who normally sit just played theirs sitting down. Mayer stands up on his time to play his solo and plays towards Buddy Guy. Buddy gets up and starts the back and forth riff war between Mayer. What Mayer does next I think honestly was to acknowledge and realize he was not trying to get Buddy into a guitar battle but played for a few more bars, placed his guitar down and did the whole "We're not worthy" bow and he walks off stage. Instead of Buddy liking this, it pissed him off. The mikes were on and you could hear Buddy going "Oh, no you don't G damnit...and he walks off stage after Mayer. That should have made the DVD. That and the whole set by Brooker T and the MG's, but what do I know. Unlike the James Burton Festival where Brad Paisley asking Eric Johnson to come back out on stage. Bad Brad was trying to get Eric into a guitar battle and Eric wasn't falling for it. Too bad. I gained a tons of respect for Brad that night. He can smoke a tele. Hamerica
  21. I'll add one. I haven't liked anything he's done enough to go buy it at a Half price books and records or the discount bin. I don't think his tone is bad. I think his tone actually quite good. I was at the Dallas Crossroads and I didn't get it (John Mayer). I think Derek Trucks or Kenny Wayne are better than Mayer. I couldn't get past how painful he looks when he plays. Diamond Dave would have gotten him a doctor. The stuff between him and Buddy Guy that didn't make the DVD should have been on there. Buddy thought Mayer was dissin' him and took off after him cussin' but then again when have you ever not see Buddy Guy cus? Funny, I never compared him to D. Matthews. I don't like Dave Matthews either. I thought it was board policy that members don't let other members listen to DuMB. Wives or not. His name should be stricken from all tablets and temples, and places of honor.
  22. I want to wish each of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May this be a memorable Christmas for you and your families. Hamerica
  23. Or is it that you run out long before you are done taking them? I can't decide. Is it Poeollween?
  24. Sorry I am going to miss this. GOM is very entertaining although Robbie the Robot is pretty entertaining by himself. Maybe there will be some "dog walking" as well. The only band I know where the audience thinks it's the Rocky Horror Show. Record? Stevie Clay didn't tell me anything about a stinking record.. Vinnie who is always talking and telling everything he knows didn't say anything about a record. Ray, who...just needs to keep behind the drums and don't start any trouble, didn't say anything about a record. The lead singer who replaced the second lead singer that replaced the first lead singer didn't say anything about a record? Wow, I gotta call Skeez and get a bootleg! Maybe the Queen will send me a demo tape. Record? Is this all original material or will it be cover tunes. "Walk Away" is a shue in. Hamerica
  25. Although this is no surprise that Kaman sold off the music division, again it will take some time to absorb this all in. Hamer USA is not the bulk of Kaman Music Corp. I am in agreement, I hope they keep the current Hamer Racing Team together but I think there are going to be some posititives. Hopefully, there will be more of an open thought to certain custom orders. Want that California set neck. I think that might not be such an issue anymore. I remember how people reacted when Kaman first bought out Hamer. That wasn't pretty either. Lots of mudslinging and pre - Kaman phrases being used. The faithful has had the ability in the past to get their input into the company and the current line of Hamer has made some the best most consistent instruments. Ovation owners are probably thinking the same things. I am going to keep a very open mind about this. I don't think it ever hurts to take a company private. Maybe Hamer will be culled out in the future and sold to another private party. Just a thought. Hamerica
