  1. I was looking at a Blues Junior for my low wattage combo amp collection. I like the 15 watt output, 3 band EQ and 1x12 combo setup, but noticed a lot of complaints in its stock configuration. You might want to check out of Bill M of Bill M Audio: Bill M Audio He's the "guy" for Blues Junior mods. If you're good with a soldering iron there's a lot of information on how to do Blues Junior mods on his website. Very cool!! No. He's referring to the Blues Junior which is 15 watts and uses EL-84 power tubes. Guitar George I found Bill M's site. This kind of stuff is doable, as long as I don't have to get at the bottom of the board. Looks like a giant pain and frught with possibilities for disaster. John, I'm not really shopping for anything else in this ballpark. I've got a small wall of low watt combos I like. This particular one was an unusual color combo that sounded pretty good at low volumes. I had heard of it's drawbacks, though, and though it might make a cool addition to the wall if I could (A) get it at the right price and ( do a some mods myself. I'll see what I can do at the shop.
  2. There's an interesting cream/chocolate Blues Junior at a local store that is yelling at me. I've heard that there's some extra mileage that can be gotten out of them by way of a few tweaks. Can anybody point me at some suitable sites to look into the possibilities before I fall in on this thing?
  3. Ditto. I don't mind swapping them around at a jam, but I don't lend them out any more. There may be a few folks around here that I'd consider, but I'd still be pretty gun shy. Back when I was in college, I loaned an ES-175 to a buddy who was going to school across the state. When spring came and I went over to pick him and his stuff up, I found that his house had been broken into the week before. He was absolutely cleaned out and was right down to the clothes on his back. Of course, my guitar was gone too.
  4. Late here too HBBD!
  5. Many happy returns, George!
  6. One of my all-time favorite pics
  7. My three Standards all have slightly different tonal "centers", if you will, probably due to the presence/absence of maple/chambering. That said, they all have more mid-range "rip" than most of the Pauls I've been acquainted with. Except Juniors.
  8. Only too happy to oblige, Mitch. I'll make every effort to NOT post pictures of the following: The good photos of those items that I will not post pictures of are by Mr. Poofy, of course.
  9. Scads and scads at the Ohio Guitar Show and the late, lamented Midwest Jams. One of these days we'll make it to a 4-3-2-1.
  10. The Gittler (that skeleton looking thingy up there) was the first thing to jump to mind.
  11. Saddest song I know; It Makes No Difference / The Band
  12. I'm not sure about the production numbers, but it seems that there were more than that. I had one that had been given the greatly expanded tone and control options of the Steve Clay/BCR Greg "Three pots of coffee, a wild idea and a soldering iron" treatment and loved it. Loved the look, the tones and the playability, but it weighed a damn ton and, well, good times/bad times and all that, it went away. I forget who bought it but they put a clear PG on it and it was killer all over again. Great guitars, yep. Collectible/increasing in value? Probably not.
  13. Was that MCChris doing the introduction??
  14. Manymanyhappyhappys, Carmie!
  15. Ditto. This is very tempting at the price.
  16. No. My credit card was charged in November. I've inquired many times, nver got a response, no strings. I thought the FTC says ship or refund or something within 30 days?
  17. Hope they're great ones for you guys. HBD!
  18. Actually, I didn't know who he was either....
  19. The offspring of an illegitimate liason between a car crusher and its power switch.
  20. 1997, 2005, 2008. Because those are the ones I own. All a bit different, all superb.
  21. That's a Keeley modded one? I'd say yeah, good deal. I think my mod was well under a C-note (just for the mods on my old pedal), but it's been some time so I don't remember exactly. Try before you buy, I know he's done several different levels and degrees of modding on the DS-1's. Oh, it was about two weeks turnaround from inside the US.
  22. I sent my TS-9 to him to be modded. Just the standard stuff (NOS chip, less bass cut when switched in, more responsive tone control and more available output). It pretty much fixed everything I didn't like about the TS-9 in the first place. He was very easy to deal with, too. Be mindful that they had a fire recently and things may well still be SNAFU'ed there.
