  1. I can't explain this in any way that makes sense. The Newport is perhaps my favorite electric I've had. I sold it.
  2. You may recognize Mr. Sokolow from The Guitar Workshop or his many DVDs and books. He's extremely versatile in so many styles and smart about all that theory mumbojumbo, and well known for his superb instructional style. He's my new guitar teacher! I just wanted to share that good news with you fine folks. He's agreed to be my instructor and hopefully get me understanding what to do with an electric guitar. Woo-hoo! (Posted here since I have no real friends to tell these things to.)
  3. I had a Studio-ish model in a '59 sort of burst once. That has to be extremely rare.
  4. When I perform said maneuver, plays.
  5. Austin, it's a Laney L20T-410 - I have a New Amp Day thread somewhere around here. I really like this amp - I only bought it because it was too cheap to pass up, but the sound is quite lovely. Chord Chemistry is a great book. Ted is my Tele hero. I have no formal musical education, and all of this stuff is challenging to me - this book makes a lot of sense and is within reach for even a moron like myself. I give it a thumbs up. I am trying to have some self-discipline and muddle through it systematically - it's a lot of work but rewarding I think. Crowth145, you're on! SpecialK and BRW, I -fought- being a Strat guy. I clung to my irrational dislike of Strats for a long time, and now I'm on my fifth one. I have accepted defeat. It seems that I love Strats, and I'm ok with it now. And, this is my favorite Strat of the ones I've had, so I'm pretty happy.
  6. For those that don't know, my dog's name is Leo, and he has given me a feeble excuse to show off my newest acquisitions yet again. --- Am I content this time? I think so. Really. Any bets?
  7. F'in A that's awesome.
  8. Celine Dion rocked the f**k out of You Shook Me All Night Long. Honorable Mention to Nickelback's 'Sad But True.'
  9. They look cool. That's good enough for me.
  10. Anyone know of a good arrangement of Sleepwalk, similar to Setzer's? I depend on paper and notes, as I seem to be incapable of figuring out anything by myself. Thanks!
  11. A Super Champ XD and enough change for a Hamer.
  12. I am listening to this masterpiece right now. Damn. RIP, Eddie and DLR. Well, you know what I mean.
  13. My older cousin once told me you could hear every guitarist in the country simultaneously stop and ask what the F they were hearing.
  14. I'm floored. Thank you so much for sharing this. It takes huge guts to post something for others to listen to, and I'm really glad you did. Bravo.
  15. Wow - this is really quite....um.... OK, I'm indifferent too.
  16. Were I still playing electric, it would already be here.
  17. No Hamers on my map, but I have been cooking up a killer reverse V with Danzig Guitars. I'm thinking dark green, gold hardware, Kahler, dot inlays, only the headstock bound, and four single coils.
  18. That would be my guess as well.
  19. All I've ever played is Cali's and have had a bunch of them over the years And the "mutt" you see in the video is my #1 go to...It's a conglomeration of Cali parts that just works..And works well...Even with the EMG's!! Sorry - my jokes mostly aren't funny. You're the first person I think of when I think 'Cali.' Don't let that freak you out in some sort of weird stalker way though. Now amps, though, I have a bit of trouble nailing down for you... (<--ok, see, that's another joke )
  20. That sounds terrific - you certainly always seem to get killer tone (and playing chops to boot of course). I didn't know you had a Cali...
  21. If anyone could pull it off with style and ease, it's you. I guess all that theory and fluency pays off now and again. Congrats. Change your pants and celebrate.
  22. That's a fine looking guitar right there.
