  1. Ha! I'm not surprised. I hope you got the $20K those tend to go for...
  2. That's an awesome looking Mirage to me - best I've seen. Major score.
  3. Whatever it is, it's awesome.
  4. Get video!
  5. Agreed! I get pretty good recordings just from my tonelab into my PC's line-in. All my mishaps are recording the classical.
  6. I hear you! It generally takes me at least 100 attempts to get a recording I like (I'm not that good, so I can't play anything the same way twice). Almost without fail, a few minutes into a good one: 1) The house A/C kicks in 2) One of my many children has something important to share ("My friend saw a bird!") 3) The dog bumps the door 4) My wife informs me that the trash really needs to go out at that very moment 5) The phone rings 6) I realize the recorder has been on pause the whole time 7) Etc
  7. Well, it's close enough for rock.
  8. Happy Birthday to one of the HFC's finest!
  9. Very nice playing and tone. I can tell you have put a lot of time into sounding that great. Thanks for sharing that - really great stuff. When you guys playing Arizona?
  10. Say "Hey Honey, what's that over there?" and when she looks away scribble it in really quickly. That is such a cool guitar - it's probably a good thing I am always broke or I'd buy most everything that pops up for sale here.
  11. Cheers! Welcome back.
  12. I don't have any friends here to help me get it to a scale, so I'll estimate it roughly at 6,500 pounds. You have dibs!
  13. While I was aimlessly debating which of the new low-power amps to buy, this one popped up on my local Craigslist. Pretty much mint condition at a great price, and what turns out to be a nice little mate for the ole' Tonelab. Plus, it fits right in my little guitar nook. So far it's only been at micro-volumes so I can't comment on the tone too much, but the family will be out of town soon and I'll get a better tone report under volume. For now, the reverb sounds nice and it has a very full and pretty clean sound. Switching between the 6v6 and EL84s doesn't seem to be a very noticeable tone difference - I assume that will stand out more when I can move the volume knob past 0.0001. Pics ... isn't it cute?
  14. My (least) favorite: However, this one doesn't bother me at all for some reason.
  15. this one tended to root me in place. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oaHHrNQVrg
  16. You rock! Nice video, good tone, excellent playing! You remain a top HFC hero.
  17. I rethought my position, and I'm now completely convinced that I like whichever one looks best on a given guitar. I could type some reasonable-sounding rationalizations if I chose to, but in all honesty (for me) it's just about the look.
  18. This is still here?! I assumed it would be gone by 8:10 pm yesterday.
  19. Gimme me a big smooth slab of ebony any day. Delete any inlays while you're at it. In all honesty, though, it really just depends on the guitar. I like them all. I like ebony for Gibsonesque humbuckery things. I like rosewood board Strats. I like ebony or maple on shredders. I dig the composite Parker board.
  20. Amber for me since natural was not on your list...
  21. For personal reward, classical guitar would be it, followed closely by cello. If it were about success/recognition/money, I'd go with electric guitar. I want to play arenas and sleep on piles of money and cocaine with lots of chicks - then later clean up and enjoy my bazillionaire status and sell out to Guitar Hero and Gibson.
  22. This is very exciting. I would love to hear some of your great stories whenever you feel like sharing any.
