  1. Seeing guitars with clip-on tunes destroying the perfect lines of said guitars drives me nuts. I see the practicality of it, as it eliminates the tuner on the floor. The P Waves one though, might be worth a look at it is hidden. I could work with that or the Peterson as long as the Peterson was clip on, tune, remove.....
  2. I reiterate....contact Lil Dawg. Marsh is good too,but I know Lil Dawg will have an incredible price and top notch quality. Dude knows tweed.
  3. Contact Jim at Lil Dawg Amps and tell him Mark sent you. He will build you exactly what you are looking for at a great price. He is a tweed expert and can build the amp with a multi-tapped OT. Trust me on this. I own 5 Dawgs. Just a mega-happy repeat customer.
  4. I get the question and I gig my dream rig at every show....but,....it varies. Sometimes it is my Hamer Special Korina Jr. through a tweed deluxe with just a tuner and a wah....all night long. Usually it is one of my Hamers, a Strat, Rick, or tele, and an open G or A partscaster set up for slide. My current fantasy rig should be ready soon: Shishkov Ultimate, Hamer Artist or my Strat for single coil tone, and either my Special Korina Jr. for slide or the partscaster. All through my Lil Dawg Ol Yeller Blonde Bassman 6g6-B clone head pushing either a closed back 2x12 or 2x10 cab. ABY box, tuner, and wah.
  5. This. Not only is Thorn's assessment of different days equally different results accurate, but his cure is spot on too! I'll do it! One Ultimate, coming up!
  6. I have been selling off excess equipment for a while....the Ultimate Fund is nearly done.
  7. Don't we all!?
  8. OMG. Best first two posts ever. Knowing how important pickups are to the entire guitar equation, I do believe it is safe to say, sir, that YOU HAVE US AWAITING AND CRAVING, NAY, LUSTING AFTER OUR INCOMING ULTIMATES MORE THAN EVER!!!!! Keep the updates coming. Fascinating! T'will be a Merry Christmas indeed!
  9. Sweet should have covered it back in the 70s, but better late than never....Ace was struggling, but he did t have his band so I can cut him some slack.
  10. Not his guitar really - he plays a Gibson LP Goldtop. Suspect a good chunk of the problem is with his signal chain - a ten pedal board wired in series routed thru a generic multi-effects pedal into a SS Marshall combo (MG50 or some such). Yikes! I'm glad you listed his signal chain, because that much tone suckage is at the root of the problem. Ten pedals in series flattens the dynamic range and adds to the noise floor. He may think that raising the gain will help, but it just makes it worse. The multi-effects pedal makes it even more worser because it digitizes that noisy flattened signal, runs it through digital effects, and then converts it back into an analog signal just before feeding the amp. He needs to learn to walk before he runs--learn the basics of rhythm guitar coordinated with his singing before he messes with the signal for special effect. If he hides behind the processors he may never learn to play well. Good advice here.
  11. That is just funny......
  12. Wherever it goes it needs to be played. You should contact Rick Neilsen or Brad Whitford and see if they are interested if it doesn't sell here. But really, you should keep it and play it yourself. You will likely regret selling it.
  13. Chris, did it sustain damage when you dropped it?
  14. The only NR song I ever really loved. It fascinated me. I have intentionally never learned to play it cause when you learn it, a little bit of the magic goes away....
  15. Seems if the initial run is the Ultimate, then the catch phrase should simply move from Hamer to Shishkov, unless it is trademarked, copyrighted, beth.
  16. Do it. Double cutaway with the long standard headstock. An affordable, but quality wood.....alder, maybe? Is that cheaper than hog? Basswood? Flat top but with bevels, unless that runs the price up. Sustainblock for uniqueness. P90s or HBs. Pics of the build as it progresses. I am a huge fan of Lil Dawg Amps. A one Man operation out of Sacramento. In fact, all my amps except one are Dawgs. He sends pics along the way and that is exciting. It bonds the customer to the amp before it ever arrives. He is unique in that he builds to the working man as well. Classic circuits that very few people build in some cases. EXCELLENT customer service responsiveness and top shelf quality. No bling unless you want to pay more for it. Inexpensive hand-wired high quality tube amps that sound awesome. He has made it work in the amp world. No affiliation except a happy repeat customer. His model is working.
  17. Thanks for the pics and update Mike! Cannot wait for my Ultimate...when you guys see it, you'll understand my excitement.....
  18. Nicely stated, Cmatthes.....repeatedly.....
  19. Mike, not Mule. It won't let me edit from my IPad. When I try it kicks me back to the Shishkov website.
  20. Got my confirmation and will send the deposit in as soon as I get Mike's PayPal addy. I couldn't respond to his confirmation cause I kept getting failure notices when replying. I went through the website so I could reply. It was funny....I got scared thinking... "OMG, what happens if I cannot reply and Mike thinks I am not interested and moves on" LOL. Mule , you did get my email, right?
  21. OMG. Do you guys have any idea how stoked I am about making this list????? I said it before and it is literally a dream come true.....I haven't had an Explorer shaped guitar since I sold my '76 Reissue in 1984 to buy a car..,please don't ask what car....I have wanted one ever since . And now it shall become a reality. Lord willing. Did I say I was excited?
  22. I am definitely in on an Ultimate Standard! This is a dream come true guys! Thanks Mike for doing this and thanks to all others who had a hand in making this happen. This forum just rocks.
  23. Since no one has yet, I call official HFC dibs on the blue one. I am quite serious.
  24. My wife just said "oh, it sounds like the 80's....and not in a good way.... I agree with her..... A 5e3 tweed Deluxe would serve Viv much better....much better indeed.....
