  1. My wife just said "oh, it sounds like the 80's....and not in a good way.... I agree with her..... A 5e3 tweed Deluxe would serve Viv much better....much better indeed.....
  2. That is wild....I wired my original 1981 Bill Lawrence L500 back in 1981 just as Murkat described. Instructions to do so came with the pup.
  3. Just a note on Felder's Eagles studio rig....LP into a TWEED Deluxe. That amp was his secret weapon. He has stated that what he and Joe Walsh used all over Hotel.....along with a tweed Champ. Tweeds are fat. I use a lot of pinch harmonics when I play....I see them as a spice, to liven up a solo or riff.
  4. Never have but almost did a couple years ago the first time I picked up my 1980 Cboard Special that I just unpacked. I was holding it and somehow I wasn't anymore and it crashed to the carpeted floor headstock first. I snatched it up and thankfully there was no break. I breathed a sigh of relief and immediately installed Schaller strap locks. At a gig in 2006 or 2007, I had a Rickenbacker 650 Dakota slide off a stand for a metal floor....I dove while wearing my Strat and caught it before it hit. That Strat is tough. I had a clumsy 300lb behemoth trip over a cord and body slam it to the floor off its stand. I mean he SLAMMED it to the floor. Bent switch, 2 dings, and not even out of tune. Bolt ons are tough.
  5. That 6g2 Princeton is awesome.......I have a 6g3 clone that sounds awesome.
  6. All I can say is thank you. Your labors of love will live on in the hands of players around the world. My 3 Hamers are my most prized possessions. Please consider starting a small company and doing it again. Lil Dawg Amps is a one man show and very successful at producing top quality hand-crafted amps.....you could do the same. But yeah, like all of us , you need a paycheck coming in to feed the fam and simply to survive. Godspeed and thank you for creating AMAZING guitars!
  7. I had a Monaco Elite mahogany that weighed around 8.5 # . Neck didn't flex like my double cuts and the body was manageable. Shelf was a non-issue. Should fit the bill exactly. My Korina Special Jr has a rock solid neck due to not having a neck pup and it is a double cut.
  8. This is why I dig attenuators! Especially the Badcat Unleash.
  9. Rugby, I have a lopoline 1x12 in tweed tolex that has been gigged a bunch. Solid as a rock still though. Half open back. We can drop in a killer vintage EV SRO or an Emi Texas Heat or a WGS Blackhawk 100. All 8 ohms. Price dependent upon the speaker. Interested in this? Shipping will be from Missouri. Mark
  10. Amp. All I own are NMV amps ....old circuits and attenuators! Everything from a 5 watt tweed champ to a 40ish watt 6g6-b Blonde Bassman. My gainiest amp is my Lil Dawg Pug...a clone of a Marshall 1974 18 watter. A gain monster......but I also love a tweed deluxe, a brown deluxe (which sounds decidedly Marshall.....the nastiest amp fender ever made), and I am diggin' this Blonde Bassman. The only amp I use dirt pedals with is my Traynor YGM-3 GuitarMate. It is a clean machine and needs pedals...except with buckers and the amp dimed. I love amp OD and distortion. It is the tone I need, want, and lust after. I play dirty and roll the volume off for cleans on the guitar. Some of my NMV amps have 2 channels and I use an ABY pedal to set one channel up for clean and one for nastiness.
  11. If no one is home, I will use a fully cranked gig amp, no joke. If she is home, I'll use a Lil Dawg 5f1 tweed Champ clone with a 12" speaker in a larger cab.....or my Lil Dawg 5E3 tweed deluxe OT a Traynor YGM-3 GuitarMate if I want Fender BF tones at low volume. I am amp rich and blessedly so......
  12. I dig the knobs. In fact, if I can find them fir sale, I'll get some.
  13. I would need to dismantle a cool partscaster to make room..... Early Phantom A5.....I turned down a GREAT deal on the off-white one that Brent bought and returned. I am still kicking myself for not buying that one. It was minty and perfect. Standard or Gibson Explorer......I started out on a '76 reissue and have always wanted another. I should have bought serial's Greco body for a refin. An old Sunburst. I didn't buy a guitar in 2013. I am really happy with what I currently own and play nearly all of them....except for the partscaster. I am set on amps. I have a great collection there. Mark I
  14. MJ, buy a Traynor YGM-3 and clip the presence cap......you will have a clean machine that is built rock solid and will take pedals extremely well....right in your price range for a vintage amp too. I picked one up a few months ago and now understand all the internet fuss. 2 EL84s and it is a DR killer. It will need a new speaker, though. Lots of great choices there. I am not a pedal guy so I just use it for cleans....but O what cleans! PM me for more info. Mark
  15. I have a Artist Korina HB in Jazzburst that is my #1. Wonderful guitars!
  16. I just crank my amps into distortion....occasionally use a treble booster and lately a Pigtronix disnortion for OD and fuzz....rarely do I step on them though. I like it straight in and nasty.......
  17. Angus 's first solo in TNT. Perfect.
  18. Dibs Serial. I like old-fashioned Fender type trems and would LOVE a sustain block on this, but a Kahler works just fine.
  19. Crate palomino V4 tube amp. Just fizzy, noisy crap. It couldn't go back to GC fast enough.
  20. Springsteen's Darkness On the Edge Of Town and Guitar Slim's My Sufferin' Mind.....what a guitar visionary he was!!!!!
  21. Vintage Trouble
  22. PM'd with trade bait.....
  23. Any trade interests? Speakers, pedals?
  24. Lots of good advice here.......here is a curve ball: if you decide to swap out both pups, see if you can find a set of vintage Bill Lawrence l500s. When I bought my 1980 Special that is what came in the guitar and they are simply awesome. The do anything and everything pickup. Period correct and just perfect IMO.
