  1. I don't know if I have a favorite Artist. But my Artist Korina is the only one I currently own. Someday I would like to have an Artist Custom and an Artist Mahogany as well. I'm not a big fan P90's so I wouldn't go that direction. But I've loved every Artist Custom I've played. And my AK feels and sounds like butter. The standard maple top Artists are great guitars. They play and sound every bit as good as the Customs without the extra bling. I hope you get that one you're watching. It looks like a winner.
  2. Since you're looking for the plain mahogany, may I ask why it needs to be a 25th instead of a plain old Artist Mahogany? No disrespect meant, just curious. You might improve your chances if you widened your search.
  3. You used to be able to get them direct from Hamer. Only they were designated "SLU" for Slightly Less Ultimate. Or, you could have MJ at the Duncan Custom shop wind you a pair. Custom winds at Duncan run about $160 per humbucker. Personally, I think they're worth every penny.
  4. Are you looking for an Artist Mahogany 25th or one of the fancy 25ths with all the bling? By the way, I highly recommend getting a set of the Duncan Ultimates. I dropped a set of those into my Artist Korina and I couldn't be happier.
  5. Pics and a more specific description will get you the most accurate estimate. Post them up here and ignore the low-ball offers. It's kind of an inside joke around here.
  6. That's hot. I would love one of those with either double cream or nickel covered Seth Lovers.
  7. I picked up the cd and dvd on Tuesday when I was at the in laws' in Chicago. I listened to the cd twice so far (love that drive back to St. Louis). I'll watch the dvd sometime today. In my mind, DT can do no wrong. As far as the side projects/solo efforts, my favorites are Liquid Tension Experiment, Petrucci's solo album, and Jame's LaBrie's last solo album, Elements of Persuasion (it was pretty heavy). An Evening with Petrucci and Rudess is nice for the background when I'm nice and mellow. I heard a little bit of Transatlantic and it just wasn't my thing.
  8. That Koa FM is tits, absolute tits. But, since the FM designation stands for "figured maple," shouldn't that be called a Special K, or perhaps a Special FK? Of course, that second one would probably be lengthened to the Special Fuck and we all know where that would go. Anyway, here's my 95 Aztec Gold. Awesome guitars. I think I should probably get another one sometime. If I ever find that Special koa, I will buy it in a heartbeat.
  9. Very nice. You have inspired me.
  10. You should go to Columbus and take a Hamer to play. When they offer you a Gibson, tell them "no thank you, I brought my own."
  11. I'm a pickup swapping fool. Even if I don't like the results, I love doing the work.
  12. Nothing new to post, but I'll show some old pictures. My 95 Special FM. I had it up for sale a while ago but I just culdn't let it go. It is such a tone monster with the Custom Shop Duncan "Brobucker" bridge pickup and a 59/Distortion hybrid neck pickup. The workhorse that sounds amazing. My 83 Vector. It's in relic condition which gives it it's own vibe, But I'm thinking of having it refinished something cool looking. Haven't decided yet. And of course, the pride of my collection, the 78 Sunburst. I would take some fresh shots of this one. But I would never be able to match the quality of this shot. It just hits me in the nuts everythime I see it.
  13. Serial, sorry to see that. It is a killer guitar. Glad you found another one. What is the name of this Dean model? Are they just called Vee's? edit: "Dean Vee"??!! And I was not even out last night. Alzheimers, that is what it is. I mean "Dean Explorer"? The Dean Explorer was named the "Z," the V was named the "V," and the cross between the two was the "ML."
  14. If I ever buy another bolt on guitar, Anderson and Suhr will be on the top of my list. I've heard nothing but absolutely amazing things about both of these guys.
  15. The reason why the Artist Korina HB doesn't come up in the used market very often is because they are so bad ass. I will never get rid of mine. Having said that, I may someday get an Artist Mahogany to pair with it. I think that might be kind of nice.
  16. Yes it is. Very nice!!!
  17. No pickguard there, big guy... Aha, didn't realize you were talking about the black Standard. Yeah, good call on that one. Looks killer.
  18. So what would you suggest with chrome covers? Creme rings, with a black pickguard?
  19. zebra is definitely the way to go
  20. While the Duncan Custom/Custom is a great pickup, and would sound awesome in that guitar, it's not really a PAF type pickup. So I didn't vote for it. I chose the Antiquities because I've always wanted to try them. I like the Seth Lovers, and the Antiquities are simply aged Seths. So, that was my reasoning.
  21. Someone needs to buy this. My 95 Special FM is a killer guitar and an amazing player. If this purple Special is anything like mine, then it is a special guitar, indeed. Plus the fact, that it's a cool color. So consider this a bump for a kick ass guitar.
  22. Looks nice. I wish I played the kind of music that would require a guitar of that type.
  23. Congrats on a spectacular guitar.
  24. I've never been a fan of Floyds. I've had a few guitars with them and they've sounded great. But I just don't use it. As far as the tone, it's a matter pf personal preference, not better or worse, just different. Some say that the Floyd robs the guitar of sustain. But my Charvel 650xl (Jackson Soloist copy) has as much sustain as any other guitar I've played. Expect a brighter tone, as a stereotype.
