  1. Those old Japanese Charvels are excellent guitars. I had several of the model series and toothpaste logo Charvels over the years. Still have my ‘89 650XL (with an ‘88 serial number) bought new in ‘92… 😉
  2. Ozzy’s music was a huge part of my early musical life, mostly thru jr high and high school, but still into undergrad and adulthood. Everything he did up to No More Tears I could listen to front to back without skipping a thing. After that, it was a few tracks here and there. To be honest, with all he’s done over the course of his life, I’m surprised he lasted as long as he did. And with everything he did, in the end it was Parkinson’s that did him in. RIP, the prince of fucking darkness.
  3. Great interview. Thanks for posting!
  4. I’ve used the Hot Rails in the bridge and neck of a couple of guitars, as well as a Cool Rails and Little 59 (supposedly the same pickup with different aesthetics) in the neck position of a couple different guitars. All three of them can do the big humbucker sound thing. And with the right EQ, you’ll get as close to a full sized humbucker as you can get without routing the guitar. Not exactly the same, but the audience at a club would never be able to tell the difference.
  5. Found his channel a little while back and I’ve enjoyed his videos as well. Very tasteful player and he’s got some really high end/boutique guitars that look and sound absolutely fantastic.
  6. Very nice, congrats! Now, bust out the chisel and bicycle spray paint and work up your own Frankie with it… 😜
  7. Very cool! Tasty and super smooth. Thanks for sharing.
  8. Very nicely done!
  9. Somebody got an amazing guitar for a great price!
  10. Someone just got a package delivered today….
  11. I had a ‘95 in Aztec gold just like it. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: monster guitars those mid 90’s special FM’s….
  12. Never had a Daytona. So take what I say with a grain for salt. Gary Hoey played them and he’s a fantastic player. If that matters to you…. my understanding is that the bridge is the same Wilky as the Mirages. The MannMade vintage trem is a direct replacement and I’ve put them in my Mirage I and II with great results. Haven’t swapped it into my Mirage Maple top yet. I had a T51 (tele style) sot opinion is: if you want a Strat that looks classic but pays modern, definitely consider a Daytona.
  13. This and this…. For all the reasons, I should hate this guitar. And for all the opposite reasons, I love it. The shape is “hideous”. Half special half SS1. However… it’s a slab body with a wraptail and the pickups could concern me less. I’d route them for double p90’s and make it the most ergonomic LP special ever. if it was Korina, then even better… And then there’s that zebra eclipse that someone on here has. I will buy that today if they’ll sell it (and my wife says it’s ok)….
  14. Just watched the Anderton’s one today. They’re interesting. Maybe I missed it, but it seems like it wouldn’t totally replace an attenuator. Gives just one “setting” below full volume.
  15. Ha. Yeah, I only know of 2 guys on here younger than I am…
  16. Congrats! Looks great. Coincidentally, I also date from July 1978…. 😂
  17. Two muffins were sitting in an oven. One turned to the other and said "Hey, it's pretty hot in here, isn't it?" The other turned and shouted "Oh my god a talking muffin!"
  18. Figuring on the neck looks great! Can’t see the body… 😜
  19. This might be the best description of Les Paul vs Hamer. Les Paul = oomph Hamer = refined So, maybe the question isn’t “which is better or can one sound like the other?”…. The question is: “do I prefer being rude and in your face or more polite and classy…?”
  20. I love my Hamers. Had more of them over the years than any other brand of guitar. However, I had wanted a Les Paul for decades. Finally got one a few months ago. It’s a 2023 standard 50’s. Solid body/non weight relieved: 9 lbs, 10 oz. For me, it wasn’t ever really about the Les Paul “sound” since there have been so many iterations of LP’s, solid/chambered/weight relieved, all sorts of pickups from low output PAFs to higher output offerings. What really is the “typical” Les Paul sound…? I never actually had a Hamer Studio, but I did have a ‘95 Special FM which is virtually the same just with the thick flat top instead of a carved top. It was a beast of a guitar but sounded and felt very different from a “real” Les Paul. Here’s mine next to my Talladega. I’m a fan of single cuts…
  21. Monster guitars those Special FM’s…
