Made in '97, purchased from @beezerboy a few years ago. I swapped the bridge for a MannMade and had it professionally set up for E-flat standard with .011s (including some fretwork) and added a Tremol-No. The guitar plays great. Plenty of light knicks/blemishes in the finish, nothing major.

Alongside my old Artist Custom, I played this guitar regularly at church for a couple of years (Artist in standard, Mirage down a 1/2 step) until I found a couple other Hamers that fit my taste a bit better (Artist Korina P90 & Newport). Time to let this one go to someone who will put it to work. EDIT: Sold on Reverb.

I like it. Are the pickups Hamer S.O.P with JB and 59?

I assume so. I haven't touched the pickups, can take them out to confirm when I get home tonight (unless @beezerboy can tell us).

Yes, those came stock with a JB/59 combo. Mine did, as did my Mirage Maple Top.

I had Josh rewind the JB/59 in my koa Mirage II and had him wind a set for me from scratch for my Maple Top. Both guitars are absolutely killer.

Only thing I would change about the Mirages is the location of the 5-way switch. It’s annoying to get to quickly when the trem bar is in. Otherwise, fantastic players with very comfortable mid 90’s Hamer medium C necks.

edited to add that I put the Mann vintage bridge on both my koa Mirages. (Maple Top still has the stock Wilkinson bridge). The Mann bridge is a solid upgrade. I approve. 😉

That’s pretty, isn’t it @Travis?

Very pretty. I do love me some koa. My absolute favorite figured wood. 😉

Confirmed: 59 in the neck, JB in the bridge.

yes... killer good guitar, especially on the bridge pickup. I played it against C/S Pauls, McCarty, Kodiak Custom and others, it did not take a back seat to any.  I only gave it up because I am old and it is heavy A F.

Now you made me curious to weigh it. Scale reads just under 9.5 lbs (9 lbs 7.7 oz, to be precise).

It does rip pretty hard. And it sustains like Nigel Tufnel's '59 Les Paul would (you know, if it were playing…)

i have a maple top, the 24 frets definitely give it a different feel.

In my hands, that guitar will sound nowhere near that good.

Bump. I just listed this on Reverb for a couple hundred more, but I'd be happy to sell here.

  • MPR changed the title to [Sold]: Mirage II
