At an age where I am, in theory, downsizing, I discovered I like Suhr guitars. Sort of a modern take on older classics. Roasted maple necks, flatter radius, stainless frets. Not a huge fan of the relic thing, but I can live with it, esp when the price is fair for lightly used guitars. I know I posted the S type before. A late 2025 entry is the JM type, which has a few not quite classic aspects....."Funk" switch and Mastery bridge, no "rhythm" circuit.

Little bit of a back story....Way back in the 60s, my main guitar (well, only guitar) was an original Fender Jazzmaster. Ended up trading it for that 1956 LP goldtop. Longer story, that. But I did hope to one day have another. Guess this will do. A bit pricier than the $85 I paid for the original. 🤐

The Suhr take on the T, specifically the Andy Wood HH Whiskey Barrel, has caught my eye. Maybe sometime in 2026 I will get a chance to get my hands on one. Meanwhile I DO love the take on it by a Japanese seller.....Could not have said it better myself......

"With a combination of an ash body and a roasted maple neck, the range is wide, and it has a dry taste without a pleasant treble.
The sound of the material is well summed up by the sound of the sound, which may It's too hard with other specs.
The warm element of covered ham works well". Genius!

Also, had to try one of the newer Baggs takes on an acoustic/electric. A store an hour or two down the road had a demo on a close out at a huge discount, so......Not gonna say it is exactly the same as a Martin D type or the like. But I do like it a lot. Great sound with variety to mix the different pickups.  Very interesting take with the PLYWOOD body, etc. Not exactly what you would expect, but this guy knows his stuff. Like this......

While there, I noticed a slightly used AE Breedlove 12ver and they gave me an even better deal if I could squeeze both into the pop top for the drive back home on a blistering hot day.... Almost like this one.Suhr AW HH.jpg

Yeah, now I gotta unload a few other things......😉

I'll spare you my usual prattle, but all of these have meaningful stories, some bittersweet and others just sweet.

The second guitar has moved on to a better home, but the rest must stay.

Very cool guitars.

That music stand is insane. Makes me wish I learned how to read music proper.

Fine, I'll tell you one of the stories.

Helga, a 94 year old German woman, has started a mental decline and can no longer read music or remember what she just read.  Based on this, she asked her daughter to help sell off some of her stuff.

Helga never had musical training in her life, but at the age of 50 decided she wanted to play cello in her local city symphony orchestra.  As we all know, this is a nearly impossible task considering the very late start and the high requirements for an orchestra seat.

But, she did it...worked her way from nothing to the orchestra...said she set her mind on it and never gave up.

She had this stand custom built by a local woodworker long ago, so it's pretty special.  I told her that she inspired me to get more serious and that I promise it a good home.  She wouldn't accept more than $50, where we finally stopped our reverse negotiation.

Nice! Gotta see if I can reverse engineer that stand!

What’s the story on this one?

That is an Andy Wood signature model with "whiskey barrel" (fire singe) finish. Here is more info.....

AFAIK, the next run will not be available until later in 2026. Hard to find a used one. In short, a very versatile Tele style with more modern features. I have NOT had a chance to actually play one....

I believe in you.

Don't miss this little height adjustment feature to go anywhere from seated to standing...

I mentioned earlier the addition of another David Myka guitar. At present, the only two builders I would want to have build me a custom guitar are David and Mike Shishkov. Of course, neither have been booking orders for quite a while.

HOWEVER, I recently heard from David. He is wrapping up work on his shop upgrades and expects to have many new builds delivered in 2026 from his queue. I told him I would love to discuss my exact specs when the time comes. MIGHT be something in this realm.....

But I DO have a couple other little mods on my mind......

Used ones pop up rarely.

Meanwhile, here is a very old clip about his work:

Quick! Somebody warn @diablo175 to stay away from the thread: this thing has THREE blade switches. He might not recover!

you should look up Riggio up this way to add to your list of builders, authentic (or not) strats to this sort of thing  https://reverb.com/item/92015365-riggio-guitars-arrowhead-production-1-first-licensed-2023-natural
