stonge Posted February 10 Posted February 10 I had a reissue (not custom shop) just like that back in the 90's and it was cool but I kept bashing into the middle pickup with my pick. I can't remember what I traded it away for, but it resides in my "didn't know what I had at the time, wish I had kept it" file in my mind. Enjoy! 1 1 1 Quote

Maybe it's because I've played Strats so much for so long. I'm just getting to know her. Never had or played a SG before. But, I'm relearning, "No More Mr. Nice Guy," at the moment. Sounds great. This is a 2001 by the way. 61 reissue. All stock. 4 Quote
Hackubus Posted February 11 Posted February 11 I was gonna guess it was around an 87 or so RI model with a Gen III Chainsaw case, but closer inspection reveals that ain't yer garden variety, late 80s Gen III Chainsaw case. What it is? Enquiring minds 'n all that. I assume being it's a 2001 model, that it's a Historic? I always wanted one of those white three holer SG/LP Customs. I had a 1991 30th Anniversary in TV Yellow for a bit in the late 00s, but it was a bit of dog tonally. Congrats! 1 Quote
Brooks Posted February 11 Posted February 11 That's kickass. I had a 2 pup white 70s SG back in the day. 1 Quote

I was an Alice Cooper freak from the fifth grade on. Glen Buxton and his white 3 hole SG was a big influence on a young man. I never thought I'd get a chance to own one, cost, rarity, whatever. But this came up in a very cosmic/spiritual fashion. So I had to pay attention. As far as the case goes, it's anyone's guess. The guy I got it from is a vintage dealer. He goes through a lot of gear. He has never seen one like it and doesn't know what it is. I'm not really one to pay attention to cases so didn't think much of it but when the sun comes up tomorrow I'll take more pictures of it and maybe we can figure it out. Thanks for your input. 1 1 Quote
Steve Haynie Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Are you familiar with the story of Glen's guitar getting broken and restored? 1 Quote

You can't live without a pancreas. I'm not sure though why Neil got the guitar being he's the drummer. I figured Michael Bruce would have kept it. Maybe Neil and Glen were close. That's the part I don't know. Quote

Saul Goodman Posted February 11 Author Posted February 11 Here are the case details. @Hackubus, @Brooks Of course California has to get their 2 cents in. Interesting latches. And, I just learned how to do a QR code by taking this picture. QR took me here. http://www.travelsentry.org 4 Quote

Kookaburra Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Freakin’ cool. I’m a big Glen fan, listened to Easy Action a few days ago actually. Saw the band in 1973. That guitar has been in my mind for many years! 2 1 Quote

That guitar has been in my mind for many years! I missed the Billion Dollar Babies '73 tour. I was in the 5th grade and they came through Indianapolis. My mom wouldn't take me. I still have the clippings from the news paper, Harold Tribune, I think. Saw Alice in '77 or '78 "Welcome to My Nightmare?" Maybe. Not the same. Wish I would have seen the Billion Dollar Babies. This guitar has been the Holy Grail for me all my life. Sorry Hamer. Quote

The QR code went to the TSA lock company but I couldn't find anything about the Gibson case on the site. So later in the day I thought to combine the search with, "Gibson Case." And apparently this is a flight case available (except out of stock) on Gibson's site. This lock mechanism must be something TSA recognizes but still unclear to me why. But here is the info on Gibson's site. https://www.gibson.com/collections/gibson-guitar-cases 2 Quote
Dutchman Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Great score! I have always preferred SG's over Lester's. Just fit me better, the upper fret board is more accessible. I have a reissue set up for slide. They really shine in the glass meets string world!!! 3 Quote
