tomteriffic Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 My boss has decreed that I shall move my professional qualifications up two notches to the highest standards. That's a pain, because it involves a lot of expensive education that he doesn't seem to be willing to help with. That's the bad news. The good news is that, once I'm done, I can write my own ticket and tell him to buzz off if need be. Still I gotta pay for these classes and they ain't cheap. No financial aid available for somebody like me, either. I ain't poor enough. Yet. So, much as I hate to do it, one of these two fine guitars is on the block. $1,000, take your pick. Add ship and PayPal if applicable. 1) '97 Mahogany Standard. Excellent condition with HSC other than some Hameritis at the neck joint. Double '59's, Buzz Feitened, from the limited run done in '97/'98. OHSC 2) '01 Standard Custom. Double '59's and the "Tone To the Bone" control cover. I can't get a decent shot of this thing to show off the finish. It's more of a Tangerine burst than anything. Previously owned by Belikerick and Jisham. OHSC was damaged in shipping but is usable, repaired with Gorilla Tape. Hairline finish cracks and small divots here and there, but in very good condition generally. A good way to get into a nice Standard Custom. Edit: I'm keeping the "Tone To The Bone" cover. It will be replaced with a standard one email me at tomteriffic AT earthlink DOT net. I think these prices are very fair, so I'm firm on 'em. I'll get more/better pics if it ever stops raining. I have some already I'll put up when I find them.
cmatthes Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 You're right - those prices are more than fair. Great guitars.(Good luck in your new role)
Jack C Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 I don't even like Standards and I want to buy that Custom.
BTMN Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 " Edit: I'm keeping the "Tone To The Bone" cover. It will be replaced with a standard one..."-- Tomterrific Oh MAN!!!
seeker Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 I actually owned it after Jaye and before Belikerick. You're right, it is a -very- difficult color to shoot a representative picture. It's a gorgeous, yummy orangey-red candy-like finish. I'd still have it except standards just don't fit me well. This is a Killer deal for either guitar.
elduave Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 Help Tom out and buy these. Silly great no fuss prices.
Guest galejt Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 Tom. What are the necks (depth, shoulders, taper)?.
tomteriffic Posted May 19, 2006 Author Posted May 19, 2006 PM's and emails replied. Jim, they'd be the current 'modern' profile. Solid and hefty C shape, but not the giant U of a '58 LP. Couldn't say about the taper. The only calipers I have are in use on the car at present.
LordOfTheThighs Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 That's a give away price. WishI had the bucks. Somebody's gonna get a greatguitar at a great price.
