serial Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 1984 Hamer Scarab Bass, custom made for and formerly owned by Jack Blades of Nightranger (his name on headstock), factory-installed Kahler bass trem (not something you see everyday), factory EMGs, finished in a custom blue opaque finish that I haven't seen before, so I don't know what to call it. Chrome hardware. Very cool bass, I just have too many four strings and since getting an Impact, this one won't see the playing time it deserves. This bass was a touring bass, so it has been played, but plays and sounds fantastic. A few dings down to the wood on pointy parts, dings here and there, but structurally solid as hell and VERY lightweight. Artist instruments don't pop up that often and are always really nicely put together.Reasonable offers, not looking at making a killing. Email for pics.

Kilroy is all about... Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 YA'LL, Whenever 'sir serial' offers one of his collection pieces for the taking, you can reassure that the instrument has been cared for with a loving touch; you'll pay a fair or below market below price (if you're a volume buyer like me); and, you'll have a formerly-owned 'serial' hamer. Hell, a formerly-owned serial hamer is a highly coveted feature of any hamer guitar. I know I am proud to have at least three 'f-o-s-h' guitars. (two 4-digits standards and a rare 'opaque red' sunburst). Post some pictures and you'll be a better response, then just ole' lackey-roy bumping your post. respectfully posted, Kilroy
serial Posted April 7, 2005 Author Posted April 7, 2005 Anyone know how to post directly? I added the links, but on the old board, that was the way to post within the thread directly.
Jimbilly Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 I'm tempted... You have to use the lower link at photobucket, I used to always use the uppermost of the 3 link choices, now it works for me using the lowest of the 3, just copied and pasted like before.
serial Posted April 7, 2005 Author Posted April 7, 2005 I always just type in the address. I honestly don't know all of this "cut and paste" of which you speak!
ET_KenW Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 Anyone know how to post directly? I added the links, but on the old board, that was the way to post within the thread directly. Steve, When you post there is the section where you can change the font, color and size of your message. Also in that section there is a button that says IMG. Click the button, it opens a window. Place the address of your image in there. It then adds the image to your message. (See below) There is a way to just type IMG, in brackets, just before the link, and then /IMG, in brackets, after the link. I cannot use the command without a link, so I can't show it on the board. No spaces between the link or the brackets.
tomteriffic Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 Boy, that one brings back memories. I met it (and it's original owner) back when the bass was new whilst working one of their tour legs for a sound and light company. I remember Jack as being a helluva nice guy and we had some fun during sound checks rattling the rafters with that thing through the PA.
Jimbilly Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 Steve; you place your cursor over the lowest p-bucket link, then click on the right side of your mouse, it should all go colory (if not, you hold down the left mouse button and slide the cursor over all the text you wish to copy, then 'right click'), then on the window that pops up you select 'copy'. When you're on the hfc, at the bottom of your reply post you again click on the right mouse button, then select 'paste' (you can also use this technique to copy/past text from word docs to emails, copy/paste pictures other hfcers have posted etc.).
Scarabaeus Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v153/serial/100_0769.jpg The strings look abnormally far away from the frets. Why is the action set so high? Can it be adjusted? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v153/serial/100_0769.jpg
serial Posted April 8, 2005 Author Posted April 8, 2005 They are not. It is an illusion in the photograph. The action is fine.
cmatthes Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 I have played that one. There is NOTHING wrong with that action! That is a great sounding, feeling and playing bass.
Jack C Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 That bass is way too big for Blades. I bet he looked like a Chihuahua humping a Greyhound when he played that thing.
tafkathundernotes Posted April 9, 2005 Posted April 9, 2005 Hmmmm... Tempting....... Sure is a wild looking thing. Is that a normal Scarab body or is it even more radically shaped?
Scarabaeus Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 Has it sold? What is the highest offer? Does it have a case?
Scarabaeus Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 ? ........ (crickets chirping)Has everybody left the room ?
serial Posted April 13, 2005 Author Posted April 13, 2005 Got some interested parties at the moment. I have a Scarab bass case for this one, but the inside form-fitted part and the pocket have been removed.
Scarabaeus Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 Got some interested parties at the moment. I have a Scarab bass case for this one, but the inside form-fitted part and the pocket have been removed. Well, it has been a week. Since you have not updated this thread with it being sold, we can only assume your parties are no longer interested. I didn't think anyone would bite at that price given its (supposed) condition plus the extra charge for the ripped apart case.
serial Posted April 19, 2005 Author Posted April 19, 2005 I have interested parties, thank you for your concern, but I saw no need to update beyond what I did.
