currypowder Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 THIS GUITAR IS SOLD I thought I'd offer this up here (as a HFC exclusive) for a week or so before I put it on TGP or ebay (probably for more). I purchased this a few months ago from Camstone. It is an incredible custom made Duotone that was ordered from BCR Greg. I'm finding that I prefer the plainer finishes. Here are the specs: Duotone Ultimate Maple Top P90's Ebony Board Matching Flame Maple Headstock Bound top, neck, headstock & f-hole Gold Hardware (tuner heads have been replaced with ebony) 10 Crown Inlays Iced T finish Ebony Bridge In very good shape with some pickmarks on the front (not noticable) and a little wear (not worming) on the back. Includes original HSC and COA. I'm asking exactly what I paid, $1,800 plus shipping. I can also throw in a pair of Pete Biltoft P90 sized humbuckers that I was thinking about installing for $110 ($25 less than I paid). If this goes to TGP or ebay, I will likely ask more (I think it's probably worth more), but wanted to give my fellow HFC members a first look. For trades, I'm interested in a Korina Artist. The pictures below were the pictures posted by Camstone that were taken by BCR Greg (Greg, if I've stepped over the line by posting these pics. let me know and I will take some new ones and remove these).
BCR Greg Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 All good.Somebody buy this thing, it's KILLER. I hated to ship it out.
tomteriffic Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Oh Crap-I did NOT need to see that! Me neither
DavidE Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Mail from me too and I'willing to let my Korina Artist go....
anotherfreak2 Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 WOW!That's georgous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!classy!
currypowder Posted August 21, 2006 Author Posted August 21, 2006 Replied to everyone (I think). If P90's aren't your thing, remember I've got the P90 sized humbuckers that I can add to the pot.
kanegon Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 How does the mapletop compare to spruce? Really dig the flat spruce on the 3holer. Is it more crisp/chimey? Know there's trend to retro p90s for HBs on these things, but am beginning to think HBs have more character with the spruce.
Guest galejt Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Mail from me too and I'willing to let my Korina Artist go.... Which Artist?
BCR Greg Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Having spent a bunch of time with it before sending it to Cam, I can tell you that it rings like crazy, and the middle position(both pickups) is almost Rickenbacker territory. And it's even nicer than my pics show.
Kurt L Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Good thing I hate piezo pickups... otherwise that would be really tempting.
currypowder Posted August 21, 2006 Author Posted August 21, 2006 Thanks to everyone's interest and comments. It really is a very nice guitar.I've had quite a bit of trade interest, so I want to clarify what my thoughts are concerning a trade. I was able to get the Duotone at what I think was a very good price from a seller who needed a cash buyer right away. So no one thinks of me as a bottom feeeding shark, I gave his full asking price. I am more than willing to share that good deal with any HFC member that wants to buy it outright (I'm not in this to make money, just enjoy rotating the collection and don't want to hold inventory). That being said, for a trade to work for me, I'm going to expect a little give in the value being traded so that both parties walk away with a good and fair deal. I was told that the Duotone was purchased for $3,900 in February (I'm not sure if that was the list or purchase price, but with all of the upgrades, that sounds about right to me as a purchase price). I think a fair asking price for this (and what I will likely ask if it goes to TGP or ebay) is around $2,400. Whether or not that is what it would ultimately sell for is anyone's guess, but I don't think anyone here would argue that it's worth that. So please keep that in mind when we are working on a fair trade.I hope I'm not offending anyone, that's not my intention. I just want to be as upfront and clear as possible.curry
Travis Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Damn, that almost makes me willing to give up my Artist Korina. Good luck with the sale/trade. Whoever gets this will be getting an awesome guitar, I'm sure.
BCR Greg Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 To everyone emailing me about this guitar, YES, IT WAS THAT EXPENSIVE. The list was HUGE due to all the upcharges. Unfortunately, Cam had some difficulties and had to generate some income. The price is extremely fair, Curry's a good dude. Now somebody buy the damn guitar and appreciate all the hard work and effort that went into it. It is awesome.
Wayne Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 What is the neck profile? Vintage or modern?Wayne
DavidE Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 If Greg doesn't take my AK3P90 in part trade, I may be putting a couple up for sale... AK3P90 or Custom Artist Custom with AAAA Quilt top, P90s, ebony board, 1st fret trap inlay, inlaid headstock, gold hardware..... sound familiar? I want the duotone option
