AdmiralB Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Love the finish on the bass. Sure highlights the bridge platform though, looks like it grew an udder.
gfc55 Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Dave, that Monaco Bass is sure tempting. You know you're not supposed to let me see things like that!

That's right DON'T let him see a beauty like that on a Friday nght! He's running around the house saying stuff like "My birthday's soon... Could use a new bass... I could bring it to Bruce's bash... what time does Dave open up??"

tafkathundernotes Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Hey Dave; After seeing that bass, I did a search through my old emails and found one I sent to you on 13 January, 2005: Here's a part of it: "If I wanted to go for a Monaco bass one of these days, what price > range would I be looking at? Just your basic off-the-shelf > transblack/quilt with ebony board and abalone inlays?" Took you long enough! ....and you forgot the abalone!

sirDaniel Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 you spect anyone will think you're credible with an avatar like that? A Dan Snyder wannabee?
cmatthes Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Okay, I just got back from checking out that bass right before Dave packed it up for shipping. OMG, that's nice!! That satin finish is damned cool in person, and that one is a nice groovy lightweight that VIBRATES in all the right places.I probably shouldn't have done that, because now I REALLY want one...Definitely a home runner, and the new owner is gonna be thrilled with this one.

Definitely a home runner, and the new owner is gonna be thrilled with this one. It's here, and it's fantastic, and it's mine!!! I've just spent the last couple of hours checking it out and comparing it to my original '59-burst Monaco Bass. This new bass is a monster tone machine. It resonates and rings like very few instruments I've ever played. I'll post more info, but I just had to say I got it, it's great, and Dave(elduave) was great to deal with.
