murkat Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 I placed a custom order back in september thru a great dealer, Dave's in WI. I paid upfront. Custom Custom Standard to my specs, a doppleganger to my already Custom Standard only with some evil twists.... Frank and I have been emailing back and forth on the progress on my Custom order. No pics yet of the progress. To add insult to the progress I get and email from Frank.... "Hi Jay, Your guitar should be done next week. I was just at the factory with Jeff DePetro looking at your guitar! The top is killer!!! I wiill ask Jol if he could send what he has to me. I'll get back to you. thanks, Frank." This is just killin me. I am a mess. 8 yrs old and days before Xmas all over again. Teased to death. Pure Pain. My rant is over, but not feeling any better.....
Dasein Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 Is that the guitar they dropped and snapped the headstock off on friday? Real shame. Heard about it from a buddy who works the belt sander. I guess they could rush a new order though production or you.... maybe early summer or late spring.... Seriously -- enjoy this anticipation. It's how you prime and ready yourself for the sweetness to come. Reminds me about Cartman waiting for the Nintendo Wii. Yo could always put yourself in suspended animation till it arrives, or take a quick trip (to Hawaii or something). Good luck and enjoy.
Guest pirateflynn Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 Can you share any specs. that you ordered on the guitar ....... or must we all be in pain?!!I can't wait to hear more about it.

Sentinel Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 ...neck pitch/ height same as reg standard custom, recess cut not blacked out... ...The neck pitch/ height was my biggie. I don not care for a close mount like an Ibanez, etc. Sounds great, but... Please explain in plain english!
murkat Posted February 4, 2007 Author Posted February 4, 2007 Most factory floyd installs are recessed (routed) into the body. The Action, string height is very close to the guitar surface, like a strat, PRS, Ibanez, etc. They all have low neck pitch and hold close to the body top, where a Les paul has more of a neck pitch in relation to string height from top of body, as well as Hamers, with a TOM bridge and stop tail.
murkat Posted February 6, 2007 Author Posted February 6, 2007 Add to insult, I get this email today from my dealer Jeff~"Hey Jay, The guitar looks great. The attention to detail that those guys are putting into their guitars is amazing. You are really really going to like this guitar. Jeff. "The pain.................... and no pics.................
Sentinel Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 I can feel your pain - my order is 4 months away!! So now you have to show US the pics when you actually get the axe!!!

soulshine74 Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 That should be illegal. Its going to be a great looking guitar.
serial Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 Holeeee mutha! Just when I was saying today that I am SOOOO over sunburst figured tops. I'm NOT! Beautiful.
atquinn Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 That looks sweet! It's interesting to see the difference in thickness between maples tops on the Standard versus my Studio (the route looks the same, but in my studio, it doesn't go through the maple to the mahogany beneath). I didn't say anything about the neck angle when I ordered my Studio, so I don't know what they did (whatever they did, it feels good to me!). Did you go with a maple neck or a mahogany one? And what type of custom pickups did you spec out (or do you mean it has 2 Duncan Customs )? -Austin
cmatthes Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 This isn't helping! Dayum.Maple neck on that bad mofo. Nice job - can't wait to see it finished!!
