alpep Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 glad to hear that. I am pulling the trigger on one any day now....
jisham Posted July 1, 2007 Author Posted July 1, 2007 Everything about it is cool IMO. The activation process is killer (via iTunes) and took all of three minutes I'd say. And every application works flawlessly so far. The keyboard takes a little getting used to, but now it's great and I'll never have to touch my Blackberry again.

Sounds cool as hell. I want one, but I'm not shelling out that kinda dough.

Guest Mike Lee Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 We went to the Apple store today to get Regina's birthday present - her choice of iPod speaker docks. She went with the Apple Hi-Fi - it's a bit bigger than the others but she liked the sound the best.Anyway, the store was swamped with people looking at the iPhone. I played with one for a few minutes and it's about as revolutionary as you could expect. The only problem is that the whole thing is one big touch screen without a cover. I think it would have to be stored in a protective holster to prevent it from getting trashed.I'm not getting one because I have a work provided cell phone (read: free) and in my job it gets a lot of abuse. An iPhone would probably get trashed in a week. However, if I was in a client facing job and I had to manage a lot of contacts I can't think of a better phone/pda/mp3 player/etc.
HAMERMAN Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 Very cool!I put iPhony on my Treo 650, that's about as close to a iPhone as I can afford. :-)http://www.tuaw.com/2007/01/13/iphony-launcher-for-palm-os/

I have an Audiovox 6700 Pocket PC for work and maybe they'll come up with a compatible clone interface. Though it's perfectly functional now. I don't use it for a phone though. The battery life sucks.
santellavision Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 Anybody heard when other providers beside AT&T will offer the iPhone? I had AT&T service for a while and it sucked in my area.
kurtsstuff Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 I don't even own a cell phone and totally out of touch and happier than a pig in shit!!
MCChris Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 I don't even own a cell phone and totally out of touch and happier than a pig in shit!! I have one but the only times I ever use it are to bark out bullshit into Kizanski's voice mail. The best part about being away from a computer or my land phone line is the INABILITY to use those devices.

Hence why I've never graduated from "Pinball Machine" with flippers and stainless steel balls slammin around under the glass top...lol!! Forgot to mention that......I am the king of "Pong".........hehehe

killerteddybear Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 It's entertaining to watch a country that so strongly embraces competition go apeshit over Apple's proprietary toys.
discountsounds Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 Anybody heard when other providers beside AT&T will offer the iPhone? I had AT&T service for a while and it sucked in my area. AT&T has a 5 year exclusive contract with the iPhone, so not anytime soon. Ridiculous.
Guest Mike Lee Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 I have a free cell phone for work and Regina has a "personal" cell phone. Both have been with Cingular (now "the New AT&T"), and we have been happy with the nationwide service. I think the deal was probably made with Cingular since their image and intended market are similar to Apple's.But now that AT&T has taken over Cingular it doesn't seem right. I have a negative impression of AT&T going back years, and the takeover pretty much destroys any brand loyalty I might have had with Cingular. Why in the hell they would replace a new and successful brand with an old brand that brings with it decades of negative connotations is beyond me. I hate AT&T, and have always chosen against them when given a choice. It's the same as IBM purchasing Apple, and renaming it "The New IBM".
jisham Posted July 5, 2007 Author Posted July 5, 2007 It's entertaining to watch a country that so strongly embraces competition go apeshit over Apple's proprietary toys. Say what you will, but Apple's customer service is top of the line. I actually hate to admit this publicly, but I dropped my iPhone in my pool yesterday -- fried it all to hell actually. I called the local Apple Store and they said to bring in to get looked at by a tech. So I made an appointment and headed over. First thing I see at the entrance is a "Sorry we're all out of iPhones" sign...not good. I get there and the phone won't turn on and no diagnostics can even be done on it. I say, "guess I'm screwed. The guy says, "excuse me please." He's gone a good 10 minutes. He comes out from the back and gets some model information off the back of my phone and goes away again. Five minutes later he comes back and says, "Dude, we're going to give you another phone for free and treat it as a return. Please understand there is NO way this is actually covered by your warranty. But the manager says it's the Fourth of July, so what the hell?" He pulls out the new phone, puts in the fried phone's SIM card, and proceeds to reactivate it. Man, I almost jumped up and hugged that kid. I fully expected to have drop another $600. I'm still stunned to be honest. All I had to do when was sync it up with my Mac at home and everything was back to normal. I lost zero info after the sync. I learned a life lesson yesterday -- DON'T TAKE MY IPHONE IN THE BACKYARD. Apple saved my ass (and wallet) yesterday.
kizanski Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 I actually hate to admit this publicly, but I dropped my iPhone in my pool yesterday...This could only happen to you, Jaye!

I bought one. It sounds decent, but really lacks bottom end. I prefer the sound of my iPizzle through my Sony and Panasonic mini stereos at home and work and they give me CD and radio as well. But the iDeck is also a charger for what that's worth.
Guest Meshuggah Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 I have one but the only times I ever use it are to bark out bullshit into Kizanski's voice mail. How does he react to this? Cuz I have his cell and ... there was this one time at band camp ...
