MCChris Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 When and where is the amp fest? I'm not a member of those forums. Can anyone go? Can I bring my homemade amp?Yes, anyone can attend, and a homebrew would be great! Right now we're going back and forth between Saturday August 16 and Saturday August 23 at Superior Street Studios in Chicago. We'll pick one of those two dates for sure by the end of the week.Link to the facility:http://www.superiorst.com

MCChris Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Sweet, I would love to attend... This sounds great !BTW, I used to practice there with my old band. Nice place.Yeah me too. It's perfect for something like this. The showcase room would be cool for an HFC jam. I'm just not of the mind to organize something like that this year.
BubbaVO Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Sweet, I would love to attend... This sounds great !BTW, I used to practice there with my old band. Nice place.Yeah me too. It's perfect for something like this. The showcase room would be cool for an HFC jam. I'm just not of the mind to organize something like that this year.Every year since leaving Chicago to go to Philly, our family (me, the wife and our 5 kids) load up the minivan and visit the parents, bros-sistrs, friends, Lou Malnati's pizza, Chi White Sox games, Oak Street Beach, Mexican Food in Des Plaines (El Pastor - best damn burritos in Chicagoland), maybe catch an up and coming band...except this year. Gas prices and work blew up our plans. I hope you guys do manage to pull together a jam. If you do, chow down on some Robinson's ribs and have a Goose Island or a Point beer for me.
BruceM Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Random thoughts on planning a jam: 1. No one is a guaranteed show. People cancel for a variety of reasons. Always. Others show up unannounced. Sometimes from a continent away. 2. If you're renting a venue, you should be prepared to pay for it yourself, even if you're requesting donations. If you can't afford it, don't plan it. (This is why the 4-3-2-1 Club works so well...it's paid for). 3. You should be planning your party for yourself, not for your friends. Every one of your friends that shows up makes your jam that much better. I used to be a bit put out by people that said they'd come and then didn't, until I took this attitude. You can only have fun with the people that are there, and even if there's only a few of them, you WILL have fun. 4. Start small, then get bigger if you'd like. Once people see how much fun you've had (you'll post photos here, right?) they won't be able to resist. Have at it folks. Hosting your friends from the HFC, new and old, gives you great opportunities for friendship and travel. Even around the world. Right, Conrad?
JohnnyThunders Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Righteous words from the Toast Master himself. The man hosts a killer bash.
BTMN Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 This jam wasn't cancelled due to lack of interest, it was cancelled with Divine Intervention. This would NOT have been the weekend to be in Logansport, In. at all by our buncha guitar hacking, beer drinking, steak eating, and generally crazy crew know as the HFC. When I first heard of this tragic accident from Friday afternoon I knew it was why there was no jam this weekend. I hope Matt's close and distant circle of family and friends was not affected by this. http://www.pharostribune.com/local/local_s..._272002939.html Much love to those poor children. Hug your's if ya got 'em.
earachemyeye Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 A moped driver.....it figures. Look for more of the same as people like this try to show everybody how smart they are saving money on gas. Too bad they didn't just run him over.Joe
