MTM105 Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 I won't spend big $ for any show. It's the principle. Too many Execs making $ off of it to send their kids off to private liberal arts colleges. Kids grow up priveledged only to take your own job.do I seem bitter?I'll wait for it to come out on DVD.
seeker Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I won't spend big $ for any show. What dark hole did that rant come from? Some of us WOULD spend money on such a show. Why be a buzzkiller?I don't care if they snort it up their noses, light cigars with wads of hundreds, or send their kids to Liberal Arts Day Care and Spa.Market forces in action, baby.
El Kabong Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I can imagine what ticket prices will be. For that money, I wish to see a reenactment of the infamous, 'fish insertion', from Seattle in '73, IIRC.
Crwth145 Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Yes, it'll be expensive... Yes, I'll be going anyway... Yes, even though I'll have to drive through a neighboring state to get there... I saw Zepp when they came through Arizona after "Presence" was released (ASU Activity Center in Tempe). Right from the start, Page was so sweat-soaked and dope-sick it was pathetic. They opened with "The Song Remains The Same", but we weren't quite able to discern that for sure until Plant started singing. Page dropped to his knees during the dry ice fog in the middle of "No Quarter" and had to be helped back to his feet by roadies on each arm. He looked like he was going to fall-over forward out of his chair during the acoustic set. We never really got a good look at his face the entire show. I can't wait ! ! ! MTM105 Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 What dark hole did that rant come from? Some of us WOULD spend money on such a show. Why be a buzzkiller?I'm a tightwad. I've lived in Nashville for 3 years now and have yet to see a show. I live 7 miles from the Ryman Theatre. very, very good shows go on there to include Neil Young's live DVD. I heard him record at Sound Check and I wandered around with my 4 yr old hoping to bump into him.If it's not free, I'm not interested.......I saw Pagie do the ARMS concert at MSG 1988 (?). at that time, I didn't care if he was in a guerney. I wanted to see him during my lifetime.Zakk Wylde was rather friendly and introduced me to his gear after he dropped out of HS circa 1984. His Aunt whom he was living with at the time, begged him, "Jeffrey, not now!" around 10:30 PM after he cranked his Marshall stack and LP for about 10 mins. I thought he was nuts! or a genius. I think she kicked him out the next day because I went looking (listening) for him and he was gone.
hamertek98 Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 I saw the Firm back in the day and Page and Plant (don't really remember P&P). Seeing JPJ live would be a treat for me. I don't go to many concerts nowadays, but this one I'll try and go to. As far as putting someones kid thru skool... I'm all for edjucacion.
Stevieconlon Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 thanks for posting.this looks good--particularly given the reviews of the O2 show.

MP3s have changed the way consumers value records, but the same consumers are willing to pay ooodles to see their favorite music acts perform live. Digital reproduction of music has eliminated scarcity, or more correctly, shifted scarcity to the place it belongs - on the in-person face time of the performers.

MTM105 Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 I doubt if you were ever military. You obviously support the music racketeering industry. The industry is a dying business, IMO. The 70's featured billboards featuring new releases of artists. Today it's been overrun by DVDs and the internet.

If the concert industry is a racket, so be it. A lot of things are. The joy music brings to me trumps all.

I've never seen these guys. SOmehow I managed to miss them in the hey day. I don't view attendance at seemingly overpriced concert as supporting the band. Its more like quenching my desire to see them live. My support of bands is founded in my fairly strict policy to refuse to generate and accept pirated music. Bring on LZ. I'm waiting.

DVD's today compared to the 70's=the 70's didn't have the format to overrun anything. The hash was better. Edit: Was Elduave a member of the Kiss Army?
gregc Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 I'll probably try to go too. I hope it's a better sound than back when I saw them in the 70's. God, that was horrid. Unlistenable, really.

I saw them too in the 70's (I don't recall the year) in Brussels, but the day before they were Amsterdam (nuff said), left before the show ended, and kept me for going to "big" expensive concerts for a long time.
JohnnyThunders Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Yawn! Been there done that ,saw them when I was in college at eh LA forum in 1972. If they had normal ticket prices I would take my one nephew who is into them but they prices will be highway robbery. Got to fund that retirement I guess.
