I finally got around to listing my quilt Californian on ebay. No reserve. Take a look.

Aside from the fact that it is Badger Red - as opposed to Illini Orange - that's a kick ass guitar!

Actually...I like it in the red, too. :D

Very nice quilt - it looks like the pictures don't to it justice.

I've seen this guitar in person. It is immaculate and stunning.

Will the proper flippin' knob be included? You and your knobs, Dave ....

Ebay message sent. This one is growing on me!

Original knob included. Actually, the photos were taken before I installed a concentric volume/tone control. Don't worry, Chris, it's low-profile, black and looks like a Tele dome knob, not an industrial furnace control.

Dave is Aces to deal with and he take care of his guitars.

This quilt is killer on this one (I know this guitar). Red is just a hard color to shoot and capture the maple.

Here is a shot before the "Badger bath"

The quilt can be seen running the width of the wood and like most hamers when you hit it at the right angle, the quilt just "pops".

Killer Deal, GREAT Seller, can't go wrong.

Thanks, Peter.

The color and figuring on this guitar is frustratingly difficult to photograph. Here's a shot that captures the quilt, but makes the color look almost salmon blush. Actual color is true trans red.

If Hamer had engaged in double-staining, the wood on this one would have been jaw-dropping. Pretty impressive even without.

I'm beginning to accept that McChris is absolutely correct about eBay.

Less than 24 hours to go and the winning bidder cancels a bid that's been in place for over a week citing "entered wrong amount" as the reason. Then I get an email saying he crashed his car today and can't pay for the guitar if he wins. Strange world where you can afford a $2K guitar yet don't have auto insurance, isn't it?

Not sure how this happened, but the price on the Cali dropped from nearly $2,000.00 to just over $1,200.00. I guess the cancellation prompted others to do the same, perhaps having bid on other items in the meantime.

So, having lost the benefit of 90% of the listing time, including the weekend, I cancelled the remaining bids and ended the auction.

I'm accepting offers or the first $1,800. takes it.

Who was the bidder? I'd like to know for future blockage. I've had that $hit happen before.

That sucks, Dude .. ebay is getting progressively worse. about five or six years ago ebay was almost like the HFC... people would go out of their way to be honest and give you a good deal. sometimes I would buy an album or silk screen poster and the seller would throw in a free t shirt or some sort of other rock swag just to be nice. I bought my BMW on ebay and it arrived in perfect shape! i haven't bought anything on ebay recently ... (I have more than enough crap at this point ) but it does seem to be going downhill

Someone buy this beautiful guitar!

Acceptance is the first step toward recovery.

One day at a time, Dave. One day at a time.

Next we tackle your bizarro knob fascination.
