WTB: Four Digit Standard or Newer in Blonde or Sunburst

Recommended Posts

I was very lucky to be able to purchase Hamerphite's '81 Special. Thanks, Ralph.

Now, I'm looking for a 4-digit Standard in good shape. I prefer Sunburst or Blonde. I know they are super-hard to find, but I'll pay good money for the right one. I'll also consider a newer model, if it's light and has a nice top. Please no chambered guitars. PM me, if you have anything "lying around". Thanks.

thanks you very much, kiz...sayeth, the iceman!

kilroy...

'fishing by the shark' that is clever.

0225 is the only 4-digit blond I've seen, besides Uncle Rick's 0004, and not including those three lovely 'zanderstd' that dave produced a while back.

I told Greg at BCR about a guitar I bought from a dealer named Dave Kenny (when he was in Detroit). It was a four digit blonde that had never been sold that he found in Michigan. It was frozen in the plane while in transit and I let it sit for eight hours and opened the case. It cracked in a similar way to Kilroy's guitar. I sold it to a guy that said he worked for Charley's Guitars in Dallas at a Dallas guitar show in 1990. I've got a polaroid of it somewhere. If I find it, I'll post it here on the forum.

I ordered my '91 Standard through Dave K. in 1990. It was shortly after he had sold a blonde Standard (HAD to be the same one!), and right after he sold the former Charlie Huhn 4-digit that Bubs42 now owns. The 4 Digit had real PAFs in it (added after the fact, of course), but the original Hamer DiMarzios were in the case.

I think he felt bad that I had missed out on both (and actually had a "deal" on one), so he gave me a great deal on the Custom Order.

Dave K. is also one of the twisted minds behind the "Thunderbolt" guitar(s). He did the original one out of old wood and '50s parts as an elaborate April Fool's Day hoax.

Robert: you have to come hang out in California some more (all 4 digits), this is the land of "Blondes and Naturals" (ok, not everything is so "natural" around here, but guitars come pretty sweet that way).

Ooooffff,

How do we score that? 5 of a kind, 4+ a wildcard, ???

I'm voting "Full House" 3dots 2crowns.

A nice set no matter what you call it.

Newer Standards might fit the bill. Please post guitars for sale. I'm looking to buy not drool!

Cash in hand, fellas. Also, a Tom Murphy Gary Rossington SG/Les Paul (S/N #69) w/ a real 1965 case, if trade is your deal. A serious guitar.

Thanks for all the posts.

excellent, W/case. I just don't play it very often.

Beautiful guitar! If not for the ebony board, I'd be real interested. I gotta' have rosewood. Hopefully, somebody reading this thread will be interested. That's a peach.

Peter wins hands down.

Trying to one up Mr. Fung would be like bringing a toothpick to a ICBM fight! :(

My mint 1995 Standard is still available.

If the Dollar continues to improve against the pound buying it may become a viable option for you:

HI- are you Dave R, who use to have the "John Nelson" Mighty mite guitar? If so, great to hear from you again. I have a great shot of me and the Rev Willy G holding your old friend and I'm tugging on his beard.

Any interest in this plank?

Peter:

Did I sell you that guitar too! It was a Charvel. If you remember, John had to remove the logos on his two Charvels because of some deal with MTV when Eddie Money played live at the Kubuki Theatre on MTV. You could still see the outline of the logo. I'd love to see the pic. Thanks.

Can you PM me or e-mail me at caitlin@mpinet.net? I've tried to PM you, but it says your inbox is full and I've sent a few e-mails, but I'm not sure you are getting them. Thanks.
