'01 Hamer Studio Custom - how much is it worth?

Okay, I have an '01 Studio Custom that is just about dead mint. I bought it basically NOS a few years ago. So how much do you think it is it worth if I were to sell it? This one is bound and crowned with the Gibson style crowns and not the more ornate Hamer ones.

Frankly, all US made Hamers seem to unjustly take a big hit on the used market.

Even the case is mint. Comes with trussrod tool and original unfilled registration and warranty card.

I sold my 01 in trans amber for $1000 a few months back. It wasn't mint but it was in great condition. Same features.

O/wise, have you tried a "completed" search on fleabay?

I think it's worth 3000 , but in this market you should as for 1400-1500 . Great looking axe . Good luck

...and then keep it until you lower that price even further.

Lately it seems that even $1200 would be optimistic, but you just never know. Crowns are nice, and that looks great.

$900-$1200 is what i think would be realistic

they are worth way more than that when you compare them with other "high-end" production guitars!

It sadeen's me deeply that they dont fetch as much as lets say a run-o-mill PRS(this in not hate on prs stuff BTW i own and love a few of 'em)

Doesn't sadden me... I couldn't afford to buy all my Hamers new. I'm glad other people can because I want the company to do well. But I've gotten all mine used out of necessity.

Yeah, I guess buying a boutiquey, American made guitar is like buying a luxury car. The first buyer takes the big hit in depreciation. But this is ridiculous. Buying a Hamer is like buying a Maserati new and having it be worth less than half in less than a year.

In that regard, I guess you could consider Gibson-- right or wrong-- to be the Mercedes Benz of guitar makers. I don't think they necessarily make a superior product, but the resale value holds up the best due to the brand name recognition.

more pics... I've been toying with the idea of putting it up for sale for $1299, but every time I open the case, I realize that it is such a nice guitar...

Do you need to sell it? Now? If you don't need to sell it just keep it and enjoy it. You've already absorbed the $$$ depreciation hit. Why cash out now when the guitar market is at one of its lowest points. If you don't need the cash now, hold onto it and enjoy it for a few years, let the binding mellow a bit. Then sell it.

If that's out of the question I have $$$ tree fiddy cash in da kitty.

I just want to say that Dave is a great guy to deal with. I bought a Studio Mahogany from him this year. Great transaction and he drove to meet me twice.

Save it if you don't need the money, this is the absolute worst time in the last bazillion years to sell guitars. Hang onto it for a few years and you'll probably double what you'd get out of it now. Plus you might change your mind and decide to keep it anyway.

Good advice...

I have several guitars I'm thinking of selling since I just bought two of my dream guitars for a $1000 less than they were selling for last year.

I also have a similar Studio Custom with ebony board that I'm pondering listing for sale... but I know it just won't command anything near what it's worth.

Good luck with your sale!
