RobB Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 Another '95 Standard for your consideration. "Somewhat" celebrity-owned; I purchased this a coupla years ago from my bro, Fernie Rod, of the recently reformed SF band, Jetboy. This Hamer is NOT original. Mods include: Aluminum TonePros tailpiece (allen screws, the studs are original Schaller) TonePros locking bridge (original Schaller with inserts included) Seymour Duncan "EVH (Evenly Voiced Harmonic")" bridge humbucker (original JB is long gone...) Plekked at Gary Brawer about 3 years ago. Plenty of frets left. This Standard plays beautifully. New bone nut by Brawer Black speed knobs (original amber tophats included) HSC is an import version. This is actually a plus, as it has form-fit inserts, unlike the USA cases from this period. Weight is appx 7.75lbs, quite light for a Standard. Condition: This one is not a case queen. It has been used/gigged/recorded, etc. I would rate it a solid Very Good +. There are a few pinhead-sized dings on the top, some jean rivet worming on the back and two very small dings on the neck near the heel. None of these are through the finish. I've photographed a pizza-day blemish in between the pickups. I swear, I never noticed this until I gave the guitar a good cleaning. Very hard to see. So, you "gotta-have-it-unsullied"-types may have to look elsewhere. SOLD to srvwannab!
RobB Posted August 23, 2009 Author Posted August 23, 2009 Damm Roy, that is hot. whats the weight?Shit, I'm sorry! It weighs in at appx. 7.75lb. (from a pretty accurate bathroom scale). I'll edit my FS post...
Punkavenger Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Really nice! I saw Jetboy back in the day opening for GNR at the Whiskey or Roxy, I fergit which, and they rocked!
BlackStandard Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 damn!If I wasnt broke & needing $$$ I woulda traded my Traci for your Fergie!Always wanted a black std ( hence screen name) oh well.I saw Both those bands numerous times, even on the same bill, back in the day on the strip .Neither playing Hamers, though....Funny how they both ended up w/ them in the mid '90's.BTW: Your photos look better than most Corporate Guitar catalog pics too.Nice.
RobB Posted August 23, 2009 Author Posted August 23, 2009 SOLD! to the wannabe of SRV. Man, shoulda asked for $1500...
RobB Posted August 23, 2009 Author Posted August 23, 2009 damn! Your photos look better than most Corporate Guitar catalog pics too. Nice. Thanks for the props. I'm getting better at taking clinical, 'mugshot'-type shots but have a long way to go with digiphotography (as evidenced by my apartment reflecting all over the place in the Yamaha shots! ). Not real good at getting those BCR, creative shots. THAT'S going to take some time!
srvwannab Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 In '97, before I ever owned a Hamer, I saw Tommy Shaw shredding on a black Hamer Standard with dots in the Styx "Return to Paradise" DVD.I've wanted one ever since. Thanks, Rob!! Also, as luck would have it, my favorite Hamer Standard (aside from my Zandard- which I have never actually put a guitar strap on, because it is so killer unique and probably irreplaceable), a '59 Burst Custom, also came w/ a Duncan EVH pup in the bridge. Love the tone.
zorrow Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 This one is about how a guitar should look: simple, elegant... and powerful. Congrats to the buyer -- BTW, my wife would kill for getting me playing one of those.
murkat Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Damm Roy, that is hot. whats the weight? Shit, I'm sorry! It weighs in at appx. 7.75lb. (from a pretty accurate bathroom scale). I'll edit my FS post... Damm, darnit. No coin, but would have C/C'd that for a sub 8lb. standard. Dangit. Nice score SRV !
