mc2 Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 This post below from the string about the Scepter Bass possibly being sold got me wondering about WHAT inlay work on Hamers has been among its BEST or Strangest? ----------- Hi Steve: sorry about that. Only have a shrunken pic of the Impact, I'll send you a better pic tonight. The inlays are Skull and Crossbones, in honor of Terrible Ted.Peter.(IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v700/chemilumoassay/SXCBinlay4.jpg--------------
mc2 Posted August 12, 2005 Author Posted August 12, 2005 The oddest inlay on any of the Hamers I own would be on this B12A that I got from Johnny Colt of the Black Crows. It's got actual Colt 45 shell casiings for the dot inlays.
wyldbil Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 I am leaning towards either the skull&bones above or the Punisher. Had I the $$$, the Punisher woulda been MINE!
HamStd Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 I think the Vernon Reid "sign language inlays" or the "tumbling boomerrangs" are pretty cool ones!!!! Peter.
cmatthes Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 I was gonna say Jon's "Johnny Colt" .45 inlays. If that one ever goes up, Jon, you have my cell #!!!Bitchin'.I also like that Standard that has "Eat Me" inlaid on the board. Kind of says it all, eh?The Keith Richards and Ron n' Jamie Wood "Name" Standards are also pretty cool.
mc2 Posted August 12, 2005 Author Posted August 12, 2005 Anyone have photos of any of the above? I haven't seen some of them.Oh, actually just remembered Ronni Crooks' missing Chap with the Jackson Sharkfins would probably be on the list, since it's the only one Hamer ever did with them.
Armitage Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 Clearly the skull&bones above or the Punisher are the coolest inlays I've seen in ages, period.
elduave Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 I was gonna say Jon's "Johnny Colt" .45 inlays. If that one ever goes up, Jon, you have my cell #!!! And you have mine...
ET_KenW Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 I loved the Punisher inlays, but my fave is still SuziPeps Planetary inlays on her bass.
MCChris Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 +1 for the planetary inlays. "+1 for interplanetary lays" -- Capt. Kirk
mc2 Posted August 12, 2005 Author Posted August 12, 2005 Someone got a pic of SuziPep's inlays/bass?Found ashot of Vernon's twirling boomers inlay and also his "mc2" one (and NO, that's NOT where I got my user name.)
iownit4 Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 what about my 12th fret checkerboardhttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/iownit4/r6.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/iownit4/r6.jpg
mc2 Posted August 13, 2005 Author Posted August 13, 2005 Is that 12th fret checkerboard inlay original? Do you have a pic of the guitar before it was stripped down to how it is in the photo?Speaking of checkerboard Hamer inlays...
Mike_C Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 I've alway thout the Johnny Colt inlays were great. As for Skulls my vote would be for the punisher but getting ovation inlays on a Hamer would be the Planet bass.
jujisque Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 Their coolest work to date: I'm with you Kiz. No, or minimal, inlays for me.
