What are some of your favorite songs to play?

It doesn’t have to be a difficult song but it could be. It could be just a song that means something to you or is just a fun party song.

A few of mine are:

Crazy little thing called love – It’s an easy fun song and everyone knows it.

Amazing Grace – It was my Dad’s favorite song

Fly By Night – It was the first Rush song I learned, I am huge Alex fan. I can’t play anything else by them but I can play this. I can’t believe I went through 4 copies of this record (vinyl) trying to learn this song.!

"Same Old Blues" by Freddie King . . . 'cuz it's NOT another 12 bar 3 chorder and it's nice to sing.

"The Chicken" by James Brown or as done by Jaco Pastorius. Cool changes, and extra fun if there's a couple of horns

"Cause We've Ended as Lovers" . . . extra cool when playing it on slide guitar

. . . Anything my daughter plays bass on because I'm a proud Daddy.

Well, my band only plays one cover, Rock Lobster, love playing it, and no matter how drunk you get, you can still play it! In the past I've enjoyed playing the Misfits We are 138.

Off the top of my head, I've got "Diamond Dust" and "Ice Cream Cakes", both by El Becko.

Then again, there's the Hunter/Wagner version of "Sweet Jane" and "Sleeping Village" by 'Sabbath.

everything we do in the rush tribute is soooooo much fun (except maybe new world man & working man). more fun to play than all the other bands i've been in (even original bands, metal, or jazz). lotsa folks don't like rush (and i get that), but its more fun to play than to listen to.

As far as songs that kill for a 'classic rock' cover band:

Cheap Trick - I Want You to Want Me

Beatles - Saw Her Standing There

Tom Petty - American Girl

ZZ - La Grange

Skynyrd - I Know a Little

Aerosmith - Same Old Song and Dance, Big Ten Inch

Nugent - Hey Baby

Santana version of Buddy Holly - Well Alright

Queen - Crazy Little Thing Called Love

True Blood Theme - Bad Things

Steve Miller - Rockin' Me

Doobie Brothers - China Grove, Long Train Runnin'

Clash - Should I Stay or Should I Go?

Third Eye Blind - Semi-Charmed Life

Sulbime - What I Got

Kings of Leon - Molly's Chamber

Black Crowes - Hard to Handle, Love Removal Machine

It's the crowd that makes them 'fun'.. I actually never thought I would 'sell out', but here I am.. hehehe..

Fun songs that never went over as well as I thought:

Thin Lizzy - Boys are Back in Town/Don't Believe a Word

ZZ - Move me on Down the Line

STP - Interstate Love Song

Here Comes the Sun - Beatles

Tears in Heaven - Eric Clapton

I'm Tore Down - Eric Clapton

Town Without Pity - Ronnie Montrose

'Cause We've Ended as Lovers - Jeff Beck

Burning House of Love - X

I play these all to often. I should spend more time learning new songs.

I get a kick out of playing Cheap Trick's "Baby Loves to Rock," even though as a youngster it was my least favorite song on "All Shook Up."

Judas Priest's "Livin' After Midnight." When I first attempted to play with a drummer and bass a few years ago, we were all a bunch of bedroom players who grew up in the 80s. We figured it would be easy and fun. It was.

But the most fun has to be The Cult's "L'il Devil" Also very easy, but straight-forward rock and roll. When I want to just rock out, Electric is the album I put on.
