cmatthes Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Steve - I still think you need a TV Jones SuperTron in the bridge and a chrome silver flake all over that one...

tobereeno Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 I can't can't wait to get my JLV!! Jay's idea of the bare maple pinstripe...that is just killer. Totally transforms the guitar. There will be a small extra bit of maple added to the top that ought to look pretty interesting....

velorush Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 78' B&C "twisty" (one piece neck) plained, fretted, re bound, new nut. Off to the Plek. So do they just twist to an equilibrium point and stop? That's very interesting!
murkat Posted May 11, 2012 Author Posted May 11, 2012 ^ If the wood is old enough and strong enough, yes.Being 30+ years old, the neck is done what it is going to do.I dropped it off to Joe Glaser's yesterday to plek the frets and nut.He was quite impressed with the job, stating "what you need me for (plek)"since it was not too far off after the plaining, re fret, binding, etc.I replied "insurance". The plek can determine stress loads, etc.
serial Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Jay- That binding on the 78 looks fantastic! How is anyone to know it was refretted now though? Nice work indeed.
kizanski Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Jay- That binding on the 78 looks fantastic! How is anyone to know it was refretted now though? Nice work indeed. Frets should be over the binding, though.. Just sayin'. *ducking*
tobereeno Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Jay, drop me a line when the JLV has cured and been buffed out; I got time these days and I'll swing by then!
