Bobby Marshall Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 OK...here's the scoop. I was the lucky buyer, thanks to Thorn for the informative posts with the tanatalizing price details. He passed, I was apparently next in line. Word is that I edged out Ralph by only a few minutes. I believe the seller indicated to Ralph that if the sale fell through, he would have said "dibs", being local and all. Guitar hasn't arrived yet, but pics and info will be posted when it lands. No plans to pass it on at this time. Waiting and slobbering at the front window for the UPS truck... They say the newer standards are better built than the 4 digits. Based on my 4 digits experience, you should be happy. I find her most comfortable to play standing up or while sitting in a sturdy chair, similar to playing a vector. Congrats! She looks like a bad girl ready for some fun times!

dobieboy Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Congrats to the buyer...I did see a bound and crowned trans red that recently sold through Sam Ash Used....apparently, I "just missed" that one.
Ting Ho Dung Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Absence of Dibs... Sans Dibs... No Dibs for you! You must be the dibs Nazzi.

LordOfTheThighs Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Now, to find that elusive BLUE flametop Standard... OR Do you mean this one? (2 guitars that I need an ass beating over, for selling. Invested the $$$ in Nikon schtuff.)
singlehum Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Now, to find that elusive BLUE flametop Standard... OR Do you mean this one? (2 guitars that I need an ass beating over, for selling. Invested the $$$ in Nikon schtuff.) YES...that is THE one!
rj2858 Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 ^^^^And NO, I'm not selling it!(Congrats on the red one singlehum, I'm sure you'll love it)
elduave Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Argh! One of my two favorite tops ever on a Standard.
rj2858 Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 And unlike Thorns' Oceanburst and tomterrifics' Indigo quilt top, it's blue all around - back, sides and neck.Love that Indigo one!
dobieboy Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 I'm one of many who love that Blue Standard....can I call dibs???
rj2858 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 ^^^dibs were called back about a year ago, you'll have to go through singlehum and sledhead44, if I remember correctly.Consider yourself third on the list, but if any of you start holding your breath now, you'll be long dead before this guitar gets sold.(but, I would have said the same thing about #0166, and I did sell that, albeit only because of a severly twisted neck)

tommy p Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 I keep returning to this thread to look at the trans red Standard. Coulda shoulda woulda.

Please don't forget!
rj2858 Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 ^^^ Nice to have options, but unless you guys can somehow get onto my will, I wouldn't spend any time worrying about it. Why don't you guys just put in a custom order and... oh, yeah, sorry 'bout that.
Ralph Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Well, how is it? Is it as nice in person as it is in the pics?
bubs_42 Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Absence of Dibs... Sans Dibs... No Dibs for you! You must be the dibs Nazzi. He is! but i believe bids is mine on the oceanburst
singlehum Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 The first pic has a black peghead, with a name under the logo?Hmmm...yeah it look like it. In looking at the quilt patterns between the two, it seems they might not be the same guitar...?
elduave Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Single hum, I did get your PM, just haven't had time to start digging. Haven't forgotten about you though...
cynic Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 The first pic has a black peghead, with a name under the logo? Hmmm...yeah it look like it. In looking at the quilt patterns between the two, it seems they might not be the same guitar...? If you're looking at the photos I posted they may be different guitars, they were just shots I found in other threads and thought I'd share them as examples of trans red Standards. I have zero affiliation with the one that this thread was started about.
singlehum Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Cool. Yes, I believe they are in fact different guitars. Elduave...I look forward to whatever you can find. I appreciate your efforts!
